I think the thing to do is when stories of abusive women come along is to signal boost them just as loud.

Think about how when a high profile story of male against female abuse comes along there is an outpouring of other male against female abuse stories.

I know its hard because female against male abuse cases almost never become high profile because they aren't male against female but I think its the way to go.

Repear the stories so loud and so often the deniers will eventually have to come clean.

Without any dialog it is hard to tell who exactly is the aggressor and who isn't at the end. But frankly it looks like she was the aggressor all the way until the end.

She slaps him outside the elevator, he takes it.
She hits him again in the elevator, I can't tell if he hits her back immediately or is just trying to deflect a blow.
He backs away from her into the corner of the elevator. He is trying to retreat. Speculation: This is likely Rice trying to restrain himself and avoid losing his temper. He is trying to avoid touching her. He is trying to get away. Reptilian brain has been engaged and the fight or flight instinct has been activated. Flight is his primary choice.
She charges him while he is backed into a corner. Speculation: Reptilian brain is still in control. Flight is now denied because she backed him into a fucking corner. The "fight" instinct is activated and he punches her.

Honestly I don't think he had high level control over his own actions at that point. If you corner any animal on this planet it is going to fight back on pure instinct. If this were the story of someone cornering a bear and getting mauled to death we would likely call that person an idiot and thank natural selection.

To those saying that he should have restrained himself and acted with less force, I'd like to bring up the point that he might have been biologically unable to control his response. In which case it wouldn't be his fault at all and she would be the sole aggressor. Also, a person's size is not representative of how much damage they can do. Nails, teeth, keys, shoes, a purse, can all do substantial damage. If you don't understand this concept we can set up an experiment involving you, a cage, and a really pissed off badger or wolverine.

It's kind of sad as a woman that I came here to make sure I wasn't crazy. Why can't people see she is clearly not a battered woman she was the aggressor. It drives me crazy this mob mentality and then when you question it you become the bad guy, it's a slippery slope when we no longer question what is being spoon fed to us by the media. The woman actually admitted that she was wrong!

Many of these reasons are stupid.

For example:

"Because my word was the only evidence."

How is this a reason to stay, it may be a reason not to pursue charges, but you don't need evidence to leave an abusive s.o.
