How can someone unintentionally sexualize something? If I say something that is not intended to sexualize that thing, and you find that it is sexualizing that thing, I am not the one sexualing it, you are.

Sexualization specifically requires intent. It specifically requires the intent to treat something sexually. At the VERY least, it requires sexual feelings. Unless using the word panties makes someone think of a little girl in a sexual fashion, it is not the user of the word, intentionally or not, sexualizing that little girl.

Perhaps this author should have a psychological evaluation if they hear the word "panties" and begin to think of little girls in a sexual way?

You cannot complain about a distasteful root meaning that few people know, and totally ignore a well known root meaning which is not distasteful: cunt.

But seriously, when I hear a woman refer to her panties as anything other than panties, I'll consider using another word; in fact, I'm positive I've used underwear to refer to women's panties more often than any woman I know.

Most of them even call thongs panties; so, does that mean most of the women I know want to sex up little girls and dress them in thongs? Doubtful.

This woman is crazy.

Eh. I really don't like the word "panties," it does sound pervy to me, but it isn't a "pedophile" thing or even a gender thing. Both my female roommate and my male boyfriend (woman here) use the term panties instead of underwear (personally I use "undies" or "chonies") but I don't think of either of them as perverts. I just don't like the word because I've watched/read too much porn in my lifetime and I associate "panties" with porn.
