Article says that false UVA Rape Allegations aren't the issue, the fact that people would believe them is. There's just so much rape who wouldn't believe a rape claim?

They believed it because they're stupid. Rape has fallen 80% since the 70's; it's now quite rare.

I'm a UVA student and to be honest I would have felt uncomfortable voicing any dissent during the initial reaction to the article. People were so outraged that I would have been attacked as a rape apologist if I voiced any skepticism.

Like for instance, the reason so many Germans were willing to accept the Nazi claims about Jews was that the Jews really were out to bring down the German race.

I don't know, but to suggest that nobody would lie is the first step in convicting an innocent person.
