The way feminists append "rape" to the end of virtually every word isn't just a cry-wolf problem. It isn't just a crude attempt to grab attention and "express the depth of their emotion" about something.

It is also deeply dismissive and utterly unfair to actual rape victims.

I don't know why they give the patient, or the patients family the last say on the procedures a doctor performs. They haven't had any sort of medical training, and the only background they have is what the medical staff tell them. They are in no way licensed to make decisions.

So here's the jezebel article if you're curious. Basically they link to a blog called Birth Trauma Truths that is spreading the term "birth rape." Jezebel points out that some people disagree with using the world rape in any instance other than sexual assault and they quote the blog:

I know that the majority of people reading the definition of rape and attempting to apply it to birth trauma will feel it is a stretch to do so. It took decades to believe that rape occurred in marriage or that women could be rapists, too, so expanding the definition to include birth might take a very long time and, I am sure, many, many years and a slew of failed lawsuits before anyone in the legal system recognizes birth traumas/abuses, much less birthrape.

The jezebel writer doesn't really specify if she agrees with the use of the term but concludes that many women feel vulnerable or "disempowered" with the medical system.

The voiceformen writer concludes it's all about money and suing doctors, but it seems more like a cry for attention. There could very well be money too, I don't know.

At what point does the word rape mean any-bad-thing? If you're violated, traumatized or embarrassed apparently you're now raped.

O......k. So what's the difference between rape and birthrape? Why does it get it's own special lable? Or is your point simply to think of a terrible situation in which a woman can get raped and then be outraged about it?

Tho I gotta say, birthrape sounds like a tacky death metal band from the 80's.
