When I was very young, my ex came over, and after a fight about our break up, she attacked me. She literally grabbed my face with her fingernails and dug in. This was totally unprovoked, and I threw her to get her off me. She ended up with a small scratch on her arm and called the police. A young female police officer showed up and immediately separated us and took her side of the story. After that, the female officer put me in cuffs. I could hear my ex telling heinous lies that I put hands on her, and she was defending herself when she gouged my face. I wasn't even allowed to speak. I was so lucky that an OLD officer (probably a sergeant or higher) showed up. I was sitting on my steps, literally bleeding into my lap from the wounds on my face. The female officer didn't even get my side of the story. The old officer asked what happened. I explained. He said to the female officer, "You can NOT just charge him." Since I admitted to throwing her to get her off of me, I could absolutely be charged. However, if she was going to charge me, then I had every right to charge her, and she would be going to jail, too. This changed my ex's whole attitude. She said she did not want to go to jail, so she wasn't pressing charges and just wanted to leave. She was drunk, so her father came and picked her up. If that old cop didn't show up, I shudder to think how the entire trajectory of my life could have changed. These days, old cops like that have long since retired.

I'd be careful as it will probably backfire on the dude unless she's holding a knife or a gun.

Hey, I'm not a subscriber. Someone just mentioned the sub and I'm checking it out.

So here's my story. Around 2014 I started dating a girl I really liked. She had issues, but I have issues too. She had tried to kill herself a few times, and I did my best to save her each time. Months were spent in hospitals and helping her navigate mental healthcare. She had a dissociative disorder, and would basically revert to a childlike state when overwhelmed...there were a few different variants/stages of this "childlike state". Whenever she calmed down, she would have no memory of what she did, but would be the brilliant and funny person who I fell in love with. But while she was in those states...it wasn't good. And you couldn't always tell she was there, though over time I came to learn how to recognize it.

One night in 2018 she sends me some cryptic text-messages and asks me to come over. I find her shower-rod busted, and a belt nearby, and I knew she was out of it. After the last suicide attempt, I made very clear that I would call the police if she tried again. Well, I called the police. She reacted in a terrifying way. She walked to the kitchen, grabbed a knife (from the knife-set I bought her years prior...she wanted to be a chef at one point), and starts walking towards me with a smile on her face and a hand behind her back. She tried to stab me, but I was on edge already and lucky enough to grab her arm. I push her against the wall and pry the knife from her hand. She then runs and grabs her keys, which have a pink "mace" canister attached (something I also bought her to be safe) and she fucking maces me.

Cops are already on the way, so I get out the front door and wait for them on the street. They show up, and at first are talking to me like I'm a domestic-abuser, which sucked. But eventually they got the gist of the situation and told me I could leave....eyes still burning and I go home.

A few hours later, around 11PM/12AM, I start getting more weird texts from her...and she eventually shows up at my door. I refuse to let her in and call her mom. She's still completely out of it at this point and trying to rush past me, but I won't let her in. My roommate and former best friend since 8th grade? Yeah he just stayed in his room and ignored everything. Thanks for the help.

Her mom shows up and we both try to corral her into her mom's car. Now, keep in mind, her mom's not the best person in the world and was complicit in the child abuse that broke her in the first place...but there's literally no one else to call. Obviously we broke up that night. But we stayed friends and would check in every month or so. We hooked up again once at a wedding in 2021, but aside from that I stopped dating completely after we broke up. In November 2023, she finally succeeded in killing herself.

i tried once, my bitch wife was beating me with a golf club, i called the cops and they told me to "take it like a man" and laughed. my wife then took one of her large feminist literature books and threw it at my head, lacerating my lip. the police called me a chud for trying to block it, this says a lot about society smh
