Specifically, the statistic that states men are more likely to die on the job than are women. I think it is hypocritical of us to use this statistic when really it is a result of occupational hazard - personal choice of individuals in deciding their career. Why is this hypocritical? Because we often debunk the 77 cents to the dollar myth of women getting paid less than men by pointing out that if one controls for age and occupation, the wage gap disappears - which is exactly what happens to the workplace deaths gap when you control for the same.
