Did she open on public assistance (cash aid or health insurance)? If so, and your income was not listed as part of the house hold to qualify, then the state is going to pursue child support against you to be reimbursed for the aid she is receiving. She cannot waive this, you are required to pay.

Pretty sure you can enter into a private agreement, puts the state out of it. I don't know what the state is harassing you, did she file a claim for child support?

She’s not on the state insurance? We don’t even know what cash aid is. So we’re both pretty clueless on what to do. Can’t we just waive it? Or do we have to go through the courts

In general parent(s) can't give away the rights of a minor.

So, you 'da daddy, generally you're on the hook for child support for 18 years. Hope the sex was worth it.
