Circumcised guy here.

I've seen a lot of posts about circumcision, and I'm just curious as to why people are so upset about it. The only argument I've ever heard was that it may interfere with sensation during sexual activity. I can tell you that as a circumcised male, I have never had a problem with decreased sensitivity. As a biologist, I think it's important to point out that circumcision done as an infant may not be as traumatic or debilitating as you might think - the body isn't fully developed even after birth (just look at puberty), and that the idea that perhaps nerves that might be damaged during the procedure can spontaneously regenerate themselves isn't too far-fetched. Of course, this ability could be lost in situations where sexually active patients undergo voluntary circumcision and then report a decrease in sensation (or increase, the results are mixed).

I know some will point to the parallel of female genital circumcision, but I don't think this is particularly accurate... Female circumcision is generally done at a much older age and for very different reasons. I just simply don't understand what the fuss is about.

Could someone explain it to me? I just don't understand the big deal.

Edit - nevermind. I should've known it was a bad idea to ask questions about circumcision that wasn't, "How much do you hate circumcision, a lot, right?!" Forget I asked.
