I think you're misunderstanding how common law marriage works (and by the way, not all countries have such a thing - my country does not).

It's a different situation because you are not living as a couple. There no romantic / sexual relationship going on, and also, although you might share bills, presumably you would have your own food, toiletries and so on, so you are not cohabiting in that sense.

No, that's a different thing from Common-Law marriage. In the UK, we would call that a 'Registry Office Marriage'. It's just a civil ceremony, conducted in a public office.

Read your actual state laws. Usually you have to "present yourself as man and wife" but the laws vary.

Common Law marriage is essentially a myth, and only really matters when one party dies. The seven year rule is BS inside the U.S, you can't just become Married without your consent, and most states don't allow the creation of "common law marriage"

But in the states that recognize common law marriage, you must Hold yourself out to be married, and that must be known to the community. So call each other husband and wife, file joint tax returns, tell people your married etc. etc.

Marriage is a contact between two consenting adults. Even if you bring religion into the matter, you still need to get a marriage license from the State. 2 Atheists can get married. 1 Catholic can marry a Muslim. Etc. Etc.

and what happens if i live with more than one woman, which one would i be married to or would it make me a polygamist?
