Ain't going to happen. There hasn't been national service since the 1950's.

No-one wants it, the government can't afford it and the Army wants to keep its 'professional volunteer' status. The only reason they are mentioning it is because it helps encourage the 'send the lazy youth into the Army' brigade and would make the unemployment figures look good.

That small body of water keeps more external enemies away than an overly large army.

Not to mention since the 1960's etc going onwards nationalism was something to be ashamed of not something to be proud of (unless you're Scottish or Welsh).

I rode dirt bikes with US Marines from Camp Lejune NC back during Reagan's Presidency when they invaded Greneda (Clint Eastwood Heartbreak Ridge film) Dozens of Marines took home folding stock AK-47s without "deactivation" from the Castro communist socialist proxy Militia and almost got courtmartialed with prison and had to turn them over.... Because the NC cops were manginas and acting like they are afraid the Marines would sell them on the street and thugs would point them later at cops (Heat film). Anyhow advance a few decades, I talked at length with a female former Marine I was taking a shower with.

She was so-called inducted/stationed in North Carolina also. She informed me the resentment toward being forced to take females was such that they gave them no slack. She had to take mass group naked "prison style" showers with the guys even if she was the only female always, whether they got an erection or not.... Which may have been a writeup if she was a he in the days before Democrat Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Full Metal Jacket level stuff up to.

Generally fellow grunts resent females in combat situations, they have to.cover their ass, and they are a rape prize incentive for enemy troops to fight harder.
