A zero sum game example is university admission. There's only a limited amount of students being qualified for that university per year.. and a push for more females equal less males.. whether it's STEM or otherwise.

When the UK and Switzerland recently proposed increasing the retirement age for women to match that of men, feminists protested in the streets. Apparently, they don't want that sort of equality.

Both countries passed the legislation anyway, a rare setback for feminists and their implacable opposition to gender equality.

Upvoting for the spirit of the comment, but:

I'm not sure most of those examples fit under the term 'zero sum game'; most of them are just the usual hypocrisy.

Zero-sum game is when we start talking about men's issues and they chime in with 'but women have it worse'.

Zero sum is when we advocate for men having rights, and they fight back as if men having rights means women do not.

Zero sum is holding a protest against Warren Farrell speaking out for men's rights, because that's misogyny.

I think most antifeminist men started as feminist men, thinking ‘patriarchy’ hurt them too and feminism would ‘liberate’ them from their ‘masculine role’. Only when they realised (like Warren Farrell) that feminism just wants allies toeing the line and not men talking about what they REALLY feel they became antifeminist.

Men who’ve always been traditional or macho, on the contrary, are hardly interested in, or bothered by feminism. So this feminist narrative about the ‘misunderstanding’ by antifeminist men simply doesn’t hold water.

When I hear people say that I usually get the impression they are people that want to appear as if they are helpful or concerned about men but are unwilling to oppose women or feminists.

Feminism isn't a "zero sum game". It's a "negative sum game".

Let's take the Duluth Model of DV for instance:

The most dangerous situation a woman can be in DV is if she's hitting her male partner. That's when she's at greatest risk to get hurt, as reflexive responses tend to be less controlled than initiated actions...

Because of that, actively giving tools to a violent woman to solve conflict without resorting to fists (anger management, alcohol/drug rehab, etc...) would reduce the risks faced by that woman in her relationship...

But it would also mean some guy is taking fewer punches in his lifetime. You'd think a tradeoff of a woman at less risk of going to the hospital in exchange for some dude taking fewer punches in his lifetime would be the best trade deal ever, right? You'd think two people taking less punches would be a net good, right?

Apparently no. Making sure that dude takes the optimally high number of punches in his lifetime is apparently worth a bunch of women making avoidable trips to the hospital and to the morgue.

Some people seem to hold enough hatred of men that a "lose-lose" is an acceptable outcome as long as men lose, and a "win-win" is unacceptable because it means men would be better off.

may i ask what mras have done for womens rights if we are an equality movement?

if 90% of feminists condemn the duluth model would you drop that point?

Getting women more rights / protections does not come at the cost of men's rights / protections

Then how come male victims of child sexual abuse were excluded from taxpayer funded services for victims for up to three decades in my country? For the thousands who committed suicide it was a very big zero.
