So what you're saying is that you, a commenter using a username on an internet forum are the true feminist, and the feminists actually responsible for changing the laws, writing the academic theory, teaching the courses, influencing the public policies, and the massive, well-funded feminist organizations with thousands and thousands of members all of whom call themselves feminists... they are not "real feminists".

But I want you to know. You don't matter. You're not the director of the Feminist Majority Foundation and editor of Ms. Magazine, Katherine Spillar, who said of domestic violence: "Well, that's just a clean-up word for wife-beating," and went on to add that regarding male victims of dating violence, "we know it's not girls beating up boys, it's boys beating up girls."

You're not Jan Reimer, former mayor of Edmonton and long-time head of Alberta's Network of Women's Shelters, who just a few years ago refused to appear on a TV program discussing male victims of domestic violence, because for her to even show up and discuss it would lend legitimacy to the idea that they exist.

You're not Mary P Koss, who describes male victims of female rapists in her academic papers as being not rape victims because they were "ambivalent about their sexual desires" (if you don't know what that means, it's that they actually wanted it), and then went on to define them out of the definition of rape in the CDC's research because it's inappropriate to consider what happened to them rape.

You're not the National Organization for Women, and its associated legal foundations, who lobbied to replace the gender neutral federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act of 1984 with the obscenely gendered Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The passing of that law cut male victims out of support services and legal assistance in more than 60 passages, just because they were male.

You're not the Florida chapter of the NOW, who successfully lobbied to have Governor Rick Scott veto not one, but two alimony reform bills in the last ten years, bills that had passed both houses with overwhelming bipartisan support, and were supported by more than 70% of the electorate.

You're not the feminist group in Maryland who convinced every female member of the House on both sides of the aisle to walk off the floor when a shared parenting bill came up for a vote, meaning the quorum could not be met and the bill died then and there.

You're not the feminists in Canada agitating to remove sexual assault from the normal criminal courts, into quasi-criminal courts of equity where the burden of proof would be lowered, the defendant could be compelled to testify, discovery would go both ways, and defendants would not be entitled to a public defender.

You're not Professor Elizabeth Sheehy, who wrote a book advocating that women not only have the right to murder their husbands without fear of prosecution if they make a claim of abuse, but that they have the moral responsibility to murder their husbands.

You're not the feminist legal scholars and advocates who successfully changed rape laws such that a woman's history of making multiple false allegations of rape can be excluded from evidence at trial because it's "part of her sexual history."

You're not the feminists who splattered the media with the false claim that putting your penis in a passed-out woman's mouth is "not a crime" in Oklahoma, because the prosecutor was incompetent and charged the defendant under an inappropriate statute (forcible sodomy) and the higher court refused to expand the definition of that statute beyond its intended scope when there was already a perfectly good one (sexual battery) already there. You're not the idiot feminists lying to the public and potentially putting women in Oklahoma at risk by telling potential offenders there's a "legal" way to rape them.

And you're none of the hundreds or thousands of feminist scholars, writers, thinkers, researchers, teachers and philosophers who constructed and propagate the body of bunkum theories upon which all of these atrocities are based.

The highest profile feminists, those dominating the movement, push a marxist, extremist and anti-male narrative. This has been the case for many decades. There may also be people calling themselves feminists who are less extreme.

However, even the basic claim that feminism means pushing for equality depends the assumption that women have things worse. In order to make that assumption, feminists, particularly those calling themselves moderates, have been pushing a narrative that there is a "patriarchy" set up by men for men at the expense of women. They have been doing this by taking events and situations from other times and places out of context and claiming that females are/were oppressed (by men.)

This is an unavoidably anti-male, not to mention mendacious, take on the world.

Take your own words as a single example:

Male genital mutilation is six times more common world-wide than female genital mutilation. There is, to the best of my knowledge, nowhere in the World where FGM is either legal or practiced and MGM is not. If it were about equality, the movement would be pushing to ban all forms of infant genital mutilation and not focussing on females. You also assume that women are somehow prevented from being equal to men, something for which you present no evidence. I have almost never seen feminists demanding that women "put in the work for it." Nor have I seen them push for the same responsibilities such as for the draft to be extended to women.

You appear to be completely unable to see this. It looks very much like an almost pathological case of solipsism in which you only recognise the suffering of those you personally identify with, leading to statements like "women are the primary victims of war. They lost their husbands, fathers and brothers." (Hillary Clinton.)

Why are you not going to them and challenging their right to call themselves feminists? Why do I never see the type of feminist you claim to be attacking the type of feminist you claim to be against?

The road to Hell is travelled by many who make claims like this. It is the claim of Marxists the World over and they have brought unspeakable disasters almost everywhere they have come to power.

Almost without exception (there are a few genuine cases) when feminists point to female oppression at other times and places, usually having no understanding of those cultures, the oppression they refer to is actually just female privilege having a perverse effect. Feminism isn't egalitarainism , it was founded on the sole mission and goal of furthering womens rights , which left men in the dust and society still brushes of male issues.

And the funniest thing is , male issues are much more serious and prevelant than female issues , 75% of all homicide and 70% of all suicide victims are men.

But no , feminism truly cares about men , thats why my childs life is dictated on what his mother thinks and on top of that if I divorce she'll get my money , my car , my house and my kids.

But no , feminism is incredible , so incredible that in fact it killed 5 people in a bombing....

Your definition of "Real feminism" isn't feminism , not in theory and especially not in practice.

Even if anyone here was simple minded enough to accept such a pedestrian framing of feminism, they still might notice something about your words:

Real feminism is still fighting for women in lesser developed countries AND are also helping gain attention to issues in relation to; religion, race, the LGBTQ etc.

... notably, the complete lack of any mention of men or men's issues. If your efforts for 'equality' exclude half the population, then it isn't for equality. Dismissing men to the point of not even considering their issues is evil enough. It's also sexist as hell.

"That is feminism" in theory does not line up with reality. This is feminism:

Women's advocacy groups, including feminists, fought against the Equal Rights Amendment. As a result, men are specifically excluded from having the legal right to genital integrity, and only men are obligated to sign up for the Selective Service.
Genital mutilation continues to be needlessly gendered in both law and everyday discourse. For example, Equality Now published an official pamphlet stating that male genital mutilation does not damage the male genitals. A major feminist magazine published an op-ed calling FGM "radically separate" from male circumcision, which can only be done (ironically) by ignoring the large number of FGM survivors who are victims of less destructive procedures, and giving FGM advocates ammunition in the process. Blaming FGM on feminism's patriarchy theory misdiagnoses the problem: "female genital surgery should not be blamed on men or on patriarchy," and misdiagnosing the problem will be counterproductive to solving it.
Mary P. Koss, one of the most decorated feminists of the past few decades, published seminal research on rape that resulted in the current legal definition of rape: forced penetration. (Here she is in 2015 (timestamp 8:30) claiming that a man is not raped, even if drugged and physically forced into sex. She considers it merely "unwanted contact.") As a result of this definition, false statistics are still published to this day saying that the vast majority of rape victims are women, when in reality half of rape victims are men.
The Duluth model, an explicitly feminist paradigm and the most common DV-intervention program in the USA, assumes that "domestic violence is the result of patriarchal ideology in which men are encouraged and expected to control their partners." This results in male abuse victims being more likely than their abusers to be arrested.
The National Organization for Women has torpedoed alimony and child support reform which had both popular and bipartisan support. (They also tweeted last year that men who are suing schools for unjust expulsion are bullies and rapists, which tells us how NOW views the presumption of innocence for men.)

The extremists have their finger on the policy and rhetoric. I'm willing to accept that at an individual level, many self-identified feminists believe in gender equality, but I don't see how that's relevant when discussing men's issues and how feminism has fueled them.

I agree with you half and half. As a female I never had to go through any of that stuff you were talking about but i see what you mean. I'm a dumb teen so please, all my seniors here please correct me if i'm wrong cuz i can't trust google sometimes.

Okayy soo uh... Feminism is not evil in itself but it kinda is...? There are so many different interpretations of feminism including the one that it is basically favoring women to some degree but I will admit that fighting for women's rights has helped those women who are unfortunate. But you seee some of y'all are kinda... strange. My friend thought I was a feminist so she sent me a vid of this girl who was giving every reason why 'Men are trash', stupid and why they don't deserve rights in the first place. And I'm honestly shocked to hear someone say that.

So either a bunch of idiots who are feminists in your sub are giving y'all a bad rep- or you guys have drifted away from your original purpose. Or it could could be that due to a bad influence overtime, your intentions have either be seen in a bad light or maybe they are no longer as reasonable as it was before.

Have a wonderful day and please try to encourage the actual toxic feminists to serve their original purpose. Think about it, if you guys were still doing that equality thing well uhm.. the Men's rights sub would not have to be established in the first place and no one would have a reason to despise y'all

Not all feminism is evil, it has helped people a lot, but they are making a lot of things worse and we are bringing issues up to fix them.
