It's another way to blame men for problems caused by not those men, and make them responsible for solving everyone's problems.

This is a not-so-clever way to re-invent Original Sin and curse men with never being allowed to have any downtime or else society will collapse. A "back on the plantation" dogwhistle

Particularly it's implication that men become "better" when suffering and abuse is applied, which is not an idea i want society normalizing again.

It's a variant of the claim that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

It's not true.

Lots of things do not kill you; but they don't make you "stronger" either, instead they leave you traumatized, disabled, disconnected, depressed or all of the above. It takes a lot of time, sometimes measured in *generations* to heal from that.

there's some truth to this on a large scale -see the fall of Rome, etc -but on an individual level, not entirely correct. Personally, I'm just left more exhausted with every year passing than the one before, when most of your everyday existence is just a repetitive loop of being chipped away at physically and mentally, with no time or resources to raise your energy or spirits back up, then life is a train ride slowly leading to your eventual collapse. Like being stuck in a sand trap that no matter how much you struggle to get out of, you always sink back right where you started...

Hard times create strong men - No. Hard times are so brutal that only the strong survive.

Strong men create good times - True.

Good times create weak men - Sort of. I'd say more that it's hard to appreciate all you have in good times so it can sometimes lead to being spoiled. On the other side of it good times have plentiful resources that help keep people healthier and to be strong you need to have good health.

Weak men create hard times - Sort of but it's more the extensive requirements needed to survive and thrive create hard times and weak men don't alleviate that difficulty the way strong men do.

My dad told me this all the time as a little girl. "Men" in that verse was always gender neutral to me. But yeah, I agree with the verse.

When things are very hard for you, you adapt and become tough. You strive to make things easier for the people who are coming after you. You create an environment where everything is easier.

When you're raised in an environment where everything is easy and you never have any struggle, you become weak. Because you can't adapt quick enough, things become hard.

But to me, the weak men and the string men are interchangeable. If you make everything easy for yourself for too long, you get soft eventually. If you're soft, and you keep fighting while things are rough, you become strong.

I always assumed the message was to always be a "strong man," as in to keep on fighting to keep the cycle going. You aren't strong if you haven't had weak points.

My take is a bit different but essentially humans adapt to stress and those adaptations make us more resilient and able to bear the stress of other hardship.

A good example of this is weight training or cardio training. Both create hormetic stressors which in turn make us more resilient both physiologically and in turn psychologically.

One thing I find interesting about the human nervous and muscular system is how quickly it changes but also how quickly it re-adapts due to the way memory stores in the muscles and nervous system, so one year you could be working with horses and doing all the physical labor involved there, the next you could be sailing ships using your body in repetitive ways for completely different tasks. Once you return to a task your body is familiar with you'll pick it up almost as easily as you left off despite the fact that your muscles and nervous system are directly conditioned for it and that to me is fascinating.

There's a quote I like "Without deprivation there can be no satisfaction" it's actually to do with intermittent fasting (something the Greeks and Romans were known for culturally embracing due to the structure of their day which was similar to ours) but in the simplest sense of the phrase, we need to be hungry to experience how great something is.

There are many ways to appease our appetites now which are superfluous and simply distracting. Our society isn't even really an "easy times" society, it's kind of a nightmare, but we have taken the raw ability of the body and completely neglected it. There is knowledge and information that comes from within when you have strong men who are capable with their bodies speaking together and working together. Most of us modern humans are more like cockroaches scattering around.

Strong men naturally face challenges. They don't distract themselves with petty things because they are busy creating. They are usually deeply emotional and in tune with their partners and the well being of those around them. They aren't distracted smoking weed, drinking and playing video games. They don't get upset and downvote comments like this for pointing it out lmao.

I think the focus on hard and soft or strong and weak men is important. But imo what we have is several generations of people who have been told it's ok to be fat, lazy, complacent, eat shit food and try to idly complain and stomp their feet like children to make the world change for them.

I don't think it's a problem with modern society because you can still help men appreciate hardship and experience working with it. Through physical training, getting them to understand the value of conflict and how to handle it in constructive ways as opposed to "winning" with pathetic "gotcha" moments, and strong men are much more able to deal with women as they tend to ask less and women tend to be less confrontational with them in general for what I assume is biolgical reasons.

So yeah. I think a lot of our problems come from the absolute ignorance of the Intuition and intelligence that comes from within the human body and as a result we have a bunch of dumbasses thinking their opinions matter without ever experiencing life in a truly raw or meaningful way.

Don't even get me started on food entitlement lol.

Hard times don't make the man, the man makes the man. Some men can use those hard times to build strength, some men will be left weakened. All depends on the man, the hard times, the choices available, the environment he's in and how much damage feminism and other anti egalitarian agendas have done to that environment

I would say this in a different way:

"Men need a purpose to be happy. They need a job they love or a person they are devoted to. "

Ask men and they will say the very same thing. They feel rudderless without this. Although sometimes I think men should also be taught to take time out for their own mental health. They tend to run themselves into the ground, otherwise.
