The whole notion of rape culture is hugely insulting to decent human beings everywhere. I don't know a single person, male or female, that doesn't despise rape and who doesn't vilify rapists, yet the notion persists that we're living in a culture that not only supports rape/rapists, but promotes it and even empowers rapists? Give me a fucking break. No one is "rapist friendly." That's absurd, and incredibly insulting, and even dehumanizing to accuse someone of such a thing.

I agree. "Rape culture" is a way of demonizing the normal sexual dynamics of heterosexuals: let him chase you until you catch him, or however you want to put it.

Although I wouldn't say "no one is rapist-friendly" when the term rape is used to define normal sex. Contrary to what feminists wish were reality, most couples do not convey verbal consent every step of the way. Most people don't want to complicate sex with that kind of bullshit--at least, not when their engines are going. But if she don't say "yes" then she hasn't given consent, apparently.

If she felt pressured, it was rape. If she wasn't sure it was a good idea but wasn't sure it wasn't, and then decided afterward that she was right the first time, it's rape. I still see women who think PIV sex is rape because men make the first move and are physically stronger than women and that's all it takes to make it rape. I'm guessing the first accusation of "Game rape" will be along shortly, because she was psychologically and cunningly mind-fucked into consenting, and that's a form of psychological coercion, therefore rape.

My ex-husband apparently raped me dozens of times, because I didn't love him for the last four years we were married and did it because I felt I should, not because I wanted to. RAPE!

We're living in a culture that supports the idea that men should pursue sex with women. What the fuck is wrong with that? Sex is fun. Women like to be pursued--to be wined and dined and teased and treated a certain way by the guys who want to have sex with them. That's just reality, not rape culture.

And this woman's an idiot. I write dirty books and most of my audience are probably not only self-identified feminists, but to hear them give opinion on the internet, they ALL hate the word "cunt". I use that word all the time in my books (if it was good enough for Chaucer, it's good enough for me), and haven't had anyone complain about it--not one--not even the people who didn't enjoy the books for some other reason. No one's mentioned it at all. There's no word that can't be reclaimed.

I cannot conceive of the mind that simultaneously says "there's no rape culture, most men will never commit rape, and the few who do are evil villains with sick minds" but also believes that a girl who dresses "older" than she "should" is somehow inducing men to rape her, or brought it upon herself.

Either we're all one short hemline away from rape, or there are a small number of men who are so depraved they will commit heinous crimes. We can't have both.
