Here is a post on reddit providing multiple sources that show that criminals often choose a male as their victim specifically because they refuse to attack a woman and even inmates condemn other inmates if they're there for a crime against a woman. Even if it's true that men are outside more often, you can't deny the evidence that proves that men being victims more often is atleast partially due to the criminals preferring attacking a male over a female. I don't know if you're still arguing with them but you could use some of the sources to disprove their argument.

There is no arguing with a woman. They get stuck in a loop of "shepeating" their lies and trying to turn it on you. They will never get anywhere near accountability. It's best to just understand that they're always projecting and lying, then ignore them.

Call their bluff and ask for a source banking on the fact that they are full of total BS.

I would do so because 1) I’ve never heard of statistics that quantify time spent outside of home by gender and 2) I can’t imagine a useful purpose of said statistics and 3) if by some wild chance there are stats out there, I doubt there are any significant differences between genders.

In their defense I will make my usual argument about evolutionary psychology.

This fear that women have about being out and about alone is innate. They "know" that they're in danger because their brains tell them so. The neurons that are telling them this were put there by evolution. It's very hard to argue with someone about an innate preference, fear, behavior, etc. because we rarely think about and analyze our innate things, we just "know" that they're true.

And since it's a gender specific innate behavior, all of the women are in agreement, which reinforces it.

Why do you care at all? Let them go out freely and do whatever they want. THEIR safety is not YOUR problem. You are losing your time debating. Live your life for yourself. Imagine you involved in a fight at night on the streets. Do you think the "fierce internet amazons" would care one bit about your safety and well-being? Of course not....

You’re going to have to be more specific about what’s being ‘argued’ here. Is it that women are at a higher risk of falling prey to danger while out at night? If so, there is nothing to argue about. This is fact and has nothing to do with men being victims of crimes.
