I remember a story on r/incel about a guy who was ugly, for real:(, and sad and decided to become a girl. Took the hormone treatment and grew out his hair. The girl version looked really good! So she was no loger an incel and was offering to be the incels' pretend girlfriend on her free time.
Weird but makes me wonder if some people just really don't care about their own gender identity. I don't feel like I care about mine.
[–]Hannyu 35 points36 points37 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But I mean, isn't that part of gender dysmorphia (or however you properly spell it, I feel like that may be wrong)? So that wpuld be a mental health condition.
Not to say people with mental health issues shouldn't have respect, but I don't think it should be treated as normal either.
[–]M8753 46 points47 points48 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This person wasn't transgender, they just didn't feel attached to their sex, I guess. If you can be a hot female, or a very unattractive male, why not be female:DD
I'm sure some people have serious gender dysphoria or body dysphoria or whatever. It should be treated in whatever way would satisfy the patient. If changing their sex makes them feel better, that's the treatment they should get.
[–]majortom22 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Interesting. The last bit surprised me. I mean I consider myself a human being that is male. Not a male human. That being said I really like that I'm male and all that it entails. I also think the same about women. But alas we get to be one in this life and I can't imagine not being deeply 'connected' to being male (or female if you are)
[–]jnofx 98 points99 points100 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I imagine that part of it has to be the appeal of a living a life in which society gives a fuck about you and praises you for doing simple, basic adult shit.
[–]antilopes 30 points31 points32 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I haven't noticed people caring about or praising trans women, unless you are confining your attention to that small fraction of those who not only pass but look notably attractive as women. That really is not the reality for the great majority of trans women.
Trans people do not start by noticing they would pass and think "hey, I can be trans!"

If you're in a crowd of sjws then you'll see a marked increase in social capital. You'll also get less shit from everybody around you if you're just in a lefty area. Now you'll have a whole new host of new issues, but if you were a bottom tier man, then your increased difficulties with dating etc. won't even seem like noticeable changes since you probably had no success in those areas anyways. Especially dating. So you can help yourself with a few social issues and rise up a bit and hurt yourself in a way that doesn't matter since you can't really get lower than zero.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's a fast track from the very bottom to the very top of the virtue tree. Leftists have destroyed the concept of social mobility. If you are born a white male you are forever one of the damned with apparently no hope of redemption. But then just when you felt all hope was lost you transform from an evil white CIS male to a virtuous non-binary gender warrior. It's the only form of social mobility available to Leftists. It's the new caste system. In one fell swoop you go from untouchable, skip all the middle level castes and become a Brahmin. And these people call themselves 'progressives'.

How does bashing trans people or women help anything? How about we discuss real issues and take this garbage elsewhere...

The joke isn’t “trans people and women suck” it’s also trying to highlight that in the western world it is easier to being a girl than it is a boy. And also, if you don’t want stuff tagged under the Humour flair anymore, don’t search for it.
[–]definitelynot_stolen 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I completely agree with the premise, I just don't think it has a place in mens rights. Makes it look bad is all I'm saying. Focus on real issues :)

If you think this is bashing trans people, you're far too sensitive.
[–]antilopes 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
Trans people do have a problem with people regarding it as a choice, and this joke promotes that mindset. Not everybody realises it is a joke. Not just Incels, there are normies too.
As for "far too sensitive" how much difference do you think there is in the suicide rate of trans people between families / schools / communities according to how they well they are understood and treated?
[–]vegantealover 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
He's a trump guy, stop trying to reason with him.
[–]antilopes 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks, quite right. Appointing himself as an authority on what constitutes bashing trans people, and proclaiming appropriate levels of sensitivity for other people, was kind of a clue.
I've found Trump guys operate on emotion, they can be reached effectively that way if you can think of an emotive approach that will appeal to them. They might be perfectly capable of reason too but emotion trumps reason every time.
[–]Cheveyo 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're dismissing the idea that it is a choice for some entirely. But I've seen those communities and know for a fact it exists.
As for the second bit, that's just an appeal to emotion that has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

I'm trans and refer to myself as a trap as well as my friends. The only people who thinks its a slur read too far into it, and can't laugh at themselves.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Holy fuck there are a lot of comments on my comment
[–]ErasablePotato -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It implies that the purpose of our entire existence is to "trap" cishet men into having sex with us and thus turning them gay.
I'm not even into men with very few exceptions, but that aside, it objectifies us and is problematic.
But hey at least women are normally objectified so at least it's validating amirite
[–]Mallack 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
I literally said you're overthinking it and then you wrote a diatribe overthinking it. You also used "Problematic" so... wow.
It normalizes homosexuality, and helps trans women in the long run by saying while it may be gay to like traps, but that doesn't matter because the penis is cute. In fact, my current boyfriend and ex would likely never look for transwomen, but were willing to try it with a trap. Thats perfectly good in my book, even if its just more accessible bicuriousty.
[–]ErasablePotato -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You also refer to yourself as a tranny. I think there's no point in continuing this talk.
Unrelated, I wonder what the reaction would be to me using the word "cissy".
[–]Mallack 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I call myself a tranny. Almost like I have thick skin and a sense of humour. Don't pretend you know me.
[–]jimskog99 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Personally i'm okay with it but it's the whole "reflects a mindset that gets trans women killed" thing.
[–]Mallack 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Really? I would say transwomen being demonized and considered mentally ill is more dangerous, not comparing them to cute "girls" and debating if having sex with them is gay, not gay, or doesn't matter because the penis is cute.
[–]jimskog99 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I fully agree. But the argument here is that ignorant cis people will learn they've been "trapped" for being attracted to someone with a dick, and being ignorant homophobes, will murder trans girls.
Some trans people want to reclaim it, and wear it with pride. and others just think it leads to trans people getting killed.
It is the lesser of two evils, sure. But it's still an evil. What would be better is to just treat women as women.
[–]Mallack 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was wondering if it was me who changed, or this sub... Remember that post about circumcision where half the comments defended it? Sorry if I'm insulting anyone, but it feels like this sub is getting worse.
It could just be that I changed. Last night I checked out r/menslib for the first time in a long time and didn't run away screaming. Maybe I just don't belong here :/
When someone insulted MRA I would have this urge to defend MensRights, then come here and think "hmm, I see why they might think that MRA are anti women".

#1: On Transgender Day of Visibility, we at MensLib stand in solidarity with and support our trans male, female and non-binary users in their fight for acceptance. | 273 comments #2: "Queer Eye" is actually a fantastic example of positive masculinity, and demonstrates the failure of society to allow men to talk about emotions and needs. Having gender dysphoria is not a choice, much like depression isn't.
Is it a choice do the transition itself? Yes.
[–]butterman403 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Well the "being trans" part itself is optional. That's the part I thought this guy was referring to
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Transitioning is part of the treatment though, and scientists have even found their brain to mirror that of the gender they feel. Putting it down to a choice feels disingenuous in a way to me.
[–]butterman403 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Alright, being trans is not a choice for the very small population that has this rare condition. You are very correct. but, for the vast majority of people, it is a choice.
[–]MrThorifyable 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What is there to back up a claim like that though?
[–]butterman403 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
According to DSM-5, the prevalence of gender dysphoria is 0.005-0.014% for adult natal males and 0.002-0.003% for adult natal females. In Europe, 1 per 30,000 adult males and 1 per 100,000 adult females seek sexual reassignment surgery (SRS).
source
Is it really a delusion if their brain mirrors the gender they feel? What about hermaphrodite, who choose their gender identity? Obviously they would identify with one more than the other. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/22/transgender-brain-scans-promised-study-shows-structural-differences/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4037295/
Further, people using trans as a way to say being female is easier, is ludicrous. I have a couple trans friends, and for them, neither of them were easy.
You need to hope your hormones can even have a drastic effect in looks to pass, otherwise you will need expensive facial surgery. The hormones mess you up mentally. Both lost some family members over it, and friends.
It's anything but easy for a trans person.

That's exactly what I've been saying for years; men who become women can't cut it as the gender they were assigned by nature and biology, and think that by being a woman life is just going to suddenly get easier. No matter how many times you mutilate your body, you will never be a real woman. You will always be a Trans-woman.
