Twenty-one and ever since I was a teen I asked myself what it is to be a man. What do they go through? I learned mostly from listening to stories and experiences. I’ve come to the curious realization that men are a lot safer to be around than women. Many might mock me for that realization, but don’t they always. They are good listeners because no one ever listens to them. Even many of those with healthy family relationships feel alone with no one. Maybe the lack of love and affection men get bothers me because I can relate. Or maybe I see men in a more pure way than most other women.

Women around me and on social media mocked men and called them children, but is it strange that it is what I love about them? They are not up tight and most know how to have fun like a child. Yet underneath that smile and childlike simplicity about them there is loneliness, pain and anger. The constant pain of feeling rejected by everyone no matter where they are at. Cast aside by society like they are nothing yet they have this beautiful ability to make people smile at the things they do. Constantly seen as predators yet most of them just want to help. Treated as if only their sex can do ill will yet there are equally the same amount of predatory women. So why does society raise their daughters to be afraid of men, but never teaches men to be afraid of women. Even though a woman can destroy a man.

You see that is the interesting thing about men, no matter how angry they seem to be at society and worn out by it they still want to protect. I’ve listened to many men vent in anger about how they are treated by women. In that venting I will see this desperation to actually want the validation of women and their approval even if they don’t admit it. It is heartbreaking to see because I know that in most cases men do not get this.

(I’ve been quite lost recently, can’t really get the courage to post a video and keep it on instagram. It is bad enough that I hate posting videos of myself and gag at the site of it, talking about men’s issues makes it worse. I honestly feel like I am just being a parrot and saying what others are saying. I posted a video of men experiencing sexual assault. I ended up deleting it because I just kept thinking I sounded stupid and like a child…).
