I’d like to create a poster with statistics of men’s issues. I want to post it in various public locations, like city and county buildings, in November. Please share some meaningful stats and sources for me to use.

Is that a sociological tipping point? Because it sounds a lot like a tipping point.

[–]GodHead_Revolution 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is. But i suppose it is natural and needs to be gone through for the next step in society.

[–]MBV-09-C 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is a difference between intelligence and education. Being intelligent means you are genuinely a smart person, being educated means you've followed a systematic form of instruction. For an education to actually make you smarter, you have to not only retain the information fed to you by that system, you also have to hope it's more fact than propaganda.

Even after becoming so called smart these greedy women will expect men earning more than them and ask for alimony. They should take responsibilities of their actions.

[–]Cerricola 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm doing the WED master in economics, the most difficult master in economics that you can do here in Spain. Want to know how much girls are in the classroom ? 0, they prefer to study marketing

[–]HPUnicorn 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Has anyone seen the video where there are bunch of (I would guess) 20 year olds who have to rate the others on intelligence, they all picked this one military guy, there is one dark haired woman who I think has either a masters or PHD and most rated her the most intelligent and everyone picked the military guy as least intelligent. They took the IQ tests and miss PHD/Master was LAST. I suspect that perhaps she knows how to be a great student but really doesn't know much of anything else.

[–]felafelsmoke 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Curb your perceived intelligence , it’s perfect 😂

[–]DonDuarte 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I tried looking for someone as smart as me. I'm still single.

I've had 8 flings who've left me / I left them after some serious conversations where we noticed that the viewpoints are completely different. Turns out I'm the one with the facts, logic and success.

[–]violetskies7 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link

do people actually consider finances when they’re looking for a spouse? i’m a university student with great grades and a lot of money i’ve earned in my savings account.

the love of my life works full time at a retail store, has considerably less savings, is committed to a football team and is an amazing guitarist.

so what? his economic status does not have anything to do with his passion, hard work, or his worth. he takes care of me and i take care of him, emotionally and physically. that’s all that matters.

[–]MIW100 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

That's cute when you're young and carefree. Not in your 30s+ with a family and bills. If you don't want that lifestyle then you'll be fine.

[–]MrMacDoctor 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Why do you imply young people are carefree? Have you not been keeping up with the inflation statistics?

"You'll learn when you're older" is an age old argument that constantly gets proven wrong. You apparently didn't learn that when you got older.

[–]MIW100 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say "you'll learn when you get older." You missed the point.

However, you actually support my argument. If you're already in a financially challenging situation, dating, marrying, or having kids someone who can't provide will just make life more stressful. No matter how charming they are.

[–]MrMacDoctor -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Dating and marrying is actually beneficial financially, especially in this day and age where a combined income is required in other to be able to even afford housing to begin with unless you have a trade or degree job.

This post wasn't about having kids so that point we can throw out the window because it's completely irrelevant.

Not only that, but a successful relationship does wonders to actually reduce stress. It often provides the framework people are looking for to motivate themselves and find their purpose in life. Sometimes that purpose ends up actually being the relationship itself.

So no, I did not prove your point.

And my sentence was a summary of yours that adequately highlights what you were saying.

It doesn't matter how economically successful you are if you can't find someone to actually care for you. That's the main point the person you replied to was saying, and it stands.

Although if you choose to be either alone or in an unhappy marriage just cause it pays the bills, that's also cute. And I don't judge.

[–]bufedad 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Dating and marrying is actually beneficial financially

Dating is a straight financial drain. There is zero financial benefit.

Marriage is only financially beneficial if you marry an equal financially, otherwise you would be better off financially alone.

[+]MrMacDoctor -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Lmao. You don't have to spend money to date. Your logic is based on your limited relationship experience. The financial benefit comes from when you don't eat comfort foods because you feel fulfilled in yourself and your relationship.

Marriage is financially beneficial in many more ways than just that. You can google it bc I can't be bothered to point out the obvious.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Found a woman, lol. Try dating as a man and not spending tons of money on dates. Lets see how much success you get...:V

[–]MrMacDoctor 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I did, and I'm now in a very happy successful relationship.

[–]bufedad 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Lmao. You don't have to spend money to date. Your logic is based on your limited relationship experience

Ah, so there are three options

1) you are a woman, and this IS true for you

2) You've never dated

3) You're trolling

So, tell me... which one is it?

[–]MrMacDoctor -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Secret option 4: you're a simp.

[–]bufedad 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Trolling it is then.

[–]MrMacDoctor-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I'm actually quite serious. For you to shrug off my point as trolling speaks to your insecurities as a man. Thinking that girls will only like you if you spend money on them.

[–][deleted]2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Trolls gotta troll I guess

[–]MrMacDoctor-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Aight bro. Stay your course im sure you'll find a faithful gold digger one day.

[–][deleted]2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Trolls gotta troll I guess

[–]MIW100 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree with this. It's what I said, if it's just the two of you with no baggage, it can be fine, at any age. Many people have families as they get older, so choosing a financially successful partner is vital or your life will be very stressful.

[–]MrMacDoctor 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Kids are definitely a financial stress. I'm glad I'm not having them.

[–]violetskies7 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

do you think that my boyfriend is going to work in retail his whole life? am i going to be going to school my whole life?

no. my boyfriend is not lazy. he’s hardworking and has many passions he could pursue and turn into a career. we’ll have a wonderful family and i’m certain we’ll both contribute to bills. or maybe he’ll be a stay at home dad and i’ll be the breadwinner :) i don’t care as long as he’s the one i’m with

[–]MIW100 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say your boyfriend was lazy. I was answering your first question.

"Do people actually consider finances when looking for a spouse?"

The answer is yes. You confirmed that with your paragraph.

[–]violetskies7 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

never meant to insinuate that you yourself said that.

i think i phrased my question poorly. finances should be considered when deciding to be long term with someone. i just don’t know if someone’s financial status should be a dealbreaker on the first couple of dates (ie. searching for someone with a lot of money and not considering other important personality traits or your actual compatibility)

i guess just wondering why people date for money and not for love.

[–]MIW100 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It depends where you are in life and what you're looking for long term. If you're a forever bachelor/bachelorette it really doesn't matter what the other person's finances are.

If you want marriage/kids in the far future you can wait for someone to grow. If you're 30/40s and want those things now, then a person's finances and career goals are important early.

[–]violetskies7 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

that makes sense. i’m still young, so i suppose that’s why i didn’t consider that.

[–]Ok-Efficiency1842 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That's how men think. Men fall in love, women don't. Not necessarily because of some biological flaw within them but because this is what feminism has turned them into.

From the time they're born and grown into adulthood, they're bombarded with messages that tell to be distrustful and hateful of men. So they see men as walking ATMs and banks.

Look at how feminist celebrate when women get large alimony payments or divorce settlements.

And since our society refuses to fight against feminism, women learn that this is an acceptable way to behave and we end up with the societal nightmare we have now.

[–]violetskies7 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

that’s how men think

yes! let’s generalize men as if they all think the same! /s spoiler alert: they don’t.

i’m currently in love. so not sure why you think women don’t fall in love. or are you just confusing your own personal shitty experiences with everyone else’s reality?

i agree with the point that i grew up being told to be cautious of men. that sentiment stuck with me until i came to mens rights and realized that just because specific men are bad doesn’t mean that i can blame the gender for that. however i never saw men as a walking atms. like i said, i have more money than my spouse, and that’s perfectly okay with me.

i think the problem i have with your comment is a) you’re generalizing men and b) you think women = feminists when i myself am not a feminist

it’s insane to me that you can say “women don’t fall in love” when you have an example of a woman in love speaking to you right now.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So? You stating that you have some transient brain chemistry you call "love" does not mean you have a right to just invalidate and throw away someone's experience. Which, for men, is quite universal, at one point of life or another.

Women, kids, and pets are loved unconditionally. We men are only loved if we provide as expected. And thwts why we must care primarily for ourselves - otherwise chances are, that noone will.

[–]violetskies7 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

he’s not talking about his experience, though. if he was, i would have no problem with it.

he’s taking his experience and claiming that it’s all men’s experience, which is a generalization and what i take issue with.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What can you possibly know about our experience if you are a woman? You might - at best - have some scraps and knowledge, and lots of opinion.

[–]violetskies7 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i don’t. and guess what? just because you are a man doesn’t mean you understand all mens experiences either.

you cannot say that all men experience something. there are always exceptions to generalizations, and that makes your claims false. saying that all men experience something is discrediting the experiences of men who don’t experience that thing (or experience something different/worse.)

for example- let’s say you say that all men want to have sex. this is untrue. some men do not want to have sex. some just don’t want to right now, and some never want to for their whole lives. by saying all men want to have sex, you are overriding the experiences of men who don’t fit your narrative.

[–]PhaedosSocrates 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The beautiful thing about this forum as opposed to the cesspool that is twoXchromosomes is that you can disagree without being down voted to infinity and banned for making valid points that don't fit the sub narrative.

Yes

I took care of men who didn't work and I want them to carry their own weight now.

Not "ill get a job soon" or" ill study"

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Values change when you have important life shit to deal with.

I make over 3x what my girlfriend makes.

Pretty sure she is relieved and grateful for that. As it lets us life the lifestyle we both want.

Without my "economic status" our quality of life dips, dramatically.

Doesn't take a genius to work out that financial security or at least competence in a partner is important when you're bringing kids into the world.

She will be doing that part - I'll be making sure we are fed, housed and fear-free.

That sounds like a respectable partnership to me.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Few years down the line, someone is going to be hit with a really bad divorce lawsuit...

[–]Marcuspie 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As long as both of you are happy to stay within those roles everything will work out fine and thats great!

[–]Camela_Harris 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To a certain extent. I have things in life I want to do that require money and a certain standard of living I want to maintain. If my partner worked a minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant or something those things just wouldn't work out.

[–]xcheshirecatxx 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"put to the test"

Yeah we assembled a bunch of educated rabid feminists as the smart women group"

As an intelligent but egalitarian woman, I don't have any issue finding men interested in me

But it's crazy, I don't treat them like shit. Maybe it's relevant....

[–]neveragoodtime 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That’s an interesting rebuttal from the feminist. Men say they want smart women ( like me ) but they keep marrying all these stupid women. Real incel vibes there.

[–]nikogetsit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Is it ever ok to proclaim one's self smart? I'd hate to be mistaken for someone on the first peak of the Dunning-Kruger curve..

[–]neveragoodtime 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am not a smart woman ( I was speaking for the author , who I assume finds herself to be a smart woman men don’t choose )

[–]newyorkloser45 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Felarhin -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What good is college supposed to do for a woman who wants a normal life? You are supposed to spend your best dating, marriage, and child bearing years in school, then take what is left to find a job, then if you're still in the game after, you'll think you're better than everyone else who isn't as educated or makes less then you, and ask to take a year or more off work for maternity leave for each child, and probably look for any excuse to drop out, throw your degree in the garbage bin, and become a stay at home mom after 30 anyway. What's the point? It's a huge waste. Whoever thought this was a good idea didn't think things through. College should be considered only for women too ugly to date.
