Gonna have to say that we fellows are kind of on the hook for this one.

Women are not held to any standards for keeping the conversation entertaining or interesting. This is not to say that they can't, or that women are less interesting than men. Some of the most interesting people I've met in my life were women.

The problem is that it's simply not necessary. A pretty girl who has the personality of a brick is a pretty but boring girl. A handsome guy who has the personality of a brick is a boring but handsome guy. The vast majority of men are fine with a beautiful woman even if she's a conversational starfish.

I disagree on the boring date part. If I am the only one who brings stuff up, then she was a boring date. She might think the same of me... eighter way, we where not a match.

Actually I wasn’t sure if I was boring or whatnot. On the 2 blind dates I went before covid, both girls seemed generally uninterested at first. The first girl only ever talked about her volunteer work and the second girl only talked about travelling and seemed really tired for some reason. Offered to send the first girl home and she agreed. She was more relaxed and talked about music, but she only listens to gospel and 90’s pop. Second girl refused my offer even though I mentioned that she seemed tired and should go back to rest.

Lol maybe I just suck at dating, idk.

Yeah, that's not a good sign. But, if the first few dates are all forgettable, just keep it moving.

But your point goes beyond dates; women are allowed to passively participate in sex as well. They are often referred to as "dead fish".

This was a big realization for me. After being on the dating scene for a bit and feeling so much pressure to have interesting conversation starters, have good dates planned, be funny, charming, interesting, and so on. It eventually dawned on me that by putting so much pressure on myself I wasn’t enjoying it. It felt like a job or a chore to entertain my date.

Remember, your happiness matters as much as theirs. They should be impressing you just as much as you should be impressing them. This helped me a lot. If a date wasn’t going well I’d stop blaming myself or being so anxious that I was doing something wrong and accept that there was no chemistry and it wasn’t meant to be. Both parties should put effort into a date

It’s absolutely true.

it’s a performance. Women want resources and power, men like fertility. Being fertile is easy, just be young and in shape.. throw on some feathers and shiny things. Demonstrating resources or power (or the promise of them) is harder.. it’s your job, your car as a status symbol, clothes as status symbol, the restaurant choice (how nice, how expensive), your access to things, providing experiences and entertainment, being charming and emotionally collected, taking the lead, etc..

Just like when women go out and just get guys to buy them drinks. It’s just a validation that they have their part down

Well generally people want to be around someone who makes them laugh. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be around someone who is boring either.
