Sinfest used to be funny, and took shots at everyone and everything - yes, dudebros, but also radfems, religious nutbars, et al. He was an equal opportunity offender that reveled in poking at the grimier aspects of life.

About a year or so ago he got started on this "matrix" thread and its been going downhill into full bore radical feminism. Other threads are pretty much ignored unless they tie into the main theme in some way. Some people have been leaving feedback saying "when are you going to get back to actually having fun with the comic" and Ishida's response is apparently to double down on the rhetoric.

I took the comic off my rotation a month or so back. A sad thing considering I'd donated, bought swag and otherwise materially supported his work in the 200x period.

Edit: Perhaps, like many starving artists, he's seeing a market to exploit. If there's one thing that the Anita Sarkeezian episode has shown us, is that there's a large market of suckers waiting to be fleeced who only need the right little bit of emotional manipulation to open their wallets.

sinfest has been a not so subtle vehicle for the author's politics for a while now, which is a shame because it was a decent comic before

I think "we" should be careful when addressing artists and especially comedians in regards to their representation of gender and social issues. What they depict may or may not be their own perspectives on the matter, but often show either perspective freely to give a greater vantage point and illustrate ironic, hypocritical, or audacious aspects of either side. Often these jokes are just meant to entertain, without considering the underlying message that can be derived from them, and we should be careful before judging.

This is all said just as a reaction to what I personally often see in this sub. I'll be reading more sinfest before trying to determine the author's intent.

Believe it or not this could be an interesting form of satire. It may be mocking the fact that feminists can't see things as things. They see them in completely biased, illogical ways based on their own ideology.

This comic illustrates that misandry should be OBVIOUS, yet feminists still deny it.

I have had a great deal of confidence in Sinfest's work for a long time. In a lot of ways, It followed my own coming of age. It wasn't until just recently that "Elevatorgate" forced me to re-evalute my entire understanding of feminism.

The guy is honest; he writes what he knows. Right now, he feels like he's seeing the world as it is for the first time. If he continues, he will find out that there is even more behind that. I've always found his work to be good, even when the topic rubs me the wrong way.

It's great that he's at this point. If he keeps searching, if he keeps learning, then he will become a very helpful ally, once he gets over the funk of peddling feminist lies. He will understand that he's been meant to feel shame, simply for being who he is, for having fun and writing amusing comics.

He'll see that he shouldn't look at his old work with shame; that it's nobody's right to make him feel ashamed for doing what an artist does best. To show the world in an awesome way.
