Why is it we have this bizarre hatred toward false rape, and that this is easily the worst thing ever(Some go so far as saying worse than real rape).

The reason a false rape claim is bad is not because it is a false claim. The flaw with them, is the ability for police and whatnot to release information including names on a case before it is even over. This allows the public to make decisions on whether the defendant is guilty before it even happens.

The idea that false rape claims should somehow be punished is ridiculous. For one, how do you prove that a claim is entirely bullshit, and how do you determine if this is somehow malevolent. Maybe the person has mental issues, who knows. But punishing people for making false rape claims just makes it so real rape victims don't want to come forward.

This should be it. If you can somehow convince me to change my mind that false rape is a true epidemic and those who do it deserve to be punished severely, I'll change my mind, but right now it seems like misplaced anger and overreaction. There are better issues to fight for.
