I understand that.

I am still trying to determine for myself what I think of AVfM - as I said maybe I need donuts (I am at /r/keto so I hope not), but in the past some AVfM material has put me off.

I am also thinking about AVfM and it's future and where Paul Elam seems to want to take it.

When I write:

I really mean to encourage Paul to

Incorporate if you haven't, get a board of advisors linked to Academia, Mens Issues, Fathers Rights, and PR, consider exploring AVfM as a journalistic effort such that you can join journalism societies issue press passes, look into board members that can bridge between AVfM and the MSM and help with fund raising

I mean, in his spare time of course.

Thank you for your interest.

AVfM is a Texas based LLC. It is not a journalistic endeavor, per se, though we do have an informal news department. We have a loosely associated group of editors that operate independently and also chip in as needed for site management. We do not have a board of directors. I run it as my own intellectual property.

The ostensible objective is for AVfM to utilize the power of the internet to publicly expose and undermine agents of misandry and injustice toward men and boys, with the longer term goal of inspiring and supporting on the ground efforts to accomplish the same thing under a shared AVfM/local banner.

And of course the concurrent mission is to provide men and women with a safe gathering place to vent, share ideas and retreat from what we consider to be an insane sexual zeitgeist now dominating western culture.

That, and eat doughnuts, :) which can also be spelled donuts.

Hi Paul,

AVfM definitely is your intellectual property and you have every reason and right to be proud of that.

It's late for me, forgive me if this comes off annoying or insulting or exceedingly naive. I am sure it is.

I looked for AVfM incorporation information at the site, and couldn't find it. I may not have looked hard enough. I'm not exactly sure why, but that it is incorporated and how it is incorporated is interesting at least to me. And since a lot of you folks use pseudonyms, providing the information to your corporation indicates a certain professionalism and seriousness and provides accountability that helps fill in what the pseudonyms take away.

In your growth and expansion plans you want to expand the role of activists -- my suggestion would be to take some part of avfm and really turn it into a journalistic endeavor - with afvm reporters taking on the role of the Derek Bedrys at local events both for men and for women and reporting through avfm and patch and cnns ireport and the local paper's blogs. And to conduct interviews with people in the news - for example recently, the University of Windsor Dean of Law Camille Cameron changed the policy at the student run Community Legal Aid (CLA) so that it will no longer represent men accused of domestic violence. Why shouldn't a credentialed AVfM reporter call her up and ask for a brief interview, same as Mother Jones might?

I would like to believe that doing so would make AVfM more powerful, open some doors, demand respect from doubters.

I think you have some great goals, but I know, and it maybe my own ignorance, that in the past I think you've shot yourself in the foot on occasion. Having a board of advisors, even unpaid, from a group of similar organizations, or from people in business or politics, or wherever, well I think it could help improve your aim, and again, having a board of advisors you can list at the website provides that much more credibility, and gives them a bit of a spiff.

So the Good Men Project offends me. I don't need a webzine whose default position is that men are bad and talks about what it means to be a good man and then uses feminist writers to tell me how I should change for society's needs. I need A Voice for Men that starts off that men are good and advocates for men in a hostile 21st Century society. The problem is that GMP is in the sweet spot -- they have a foundation -- they have a masthead that doesn't use pseudonyms and has men and women listed, and they have some amount of funding (and advertising) their only problem is that every word they publish is anti-male in nature.

In my blue sky idea of how you expand you would use kickstarter or indiegogo to successfully raise some small amount of funds for expansion of the AVfM webzine to * raise funds for reporting costs, expansion, and demonstrating need and demand and finding some investors * get you some press for your successful kickstarter * increase traffic for advertising * followed by your announcement of being able to pay reporters for contributions to AVfM

But I have another idea that is crazy and naive but it's 1am Saturday, so it seems the best time of the week to mention it.

Create a section for fiction and the arts.

Find some experienced and/or inexperienced science fiction authors, men and women, that will contribute to a series of once a month AVfM fiction. It could be one paragraph, one page, or longer that explores themes in current and future culture of men and women discussing mens issues and its conflicts with feminism or society, or just a kind of neat place for some science fiction or new stories.

In the 60s/70s/80s, science fiction writers really opened my eyes up to sex, to culture, to future changes. You might be able to publish under the AVfM name some new stories. It might not be from John Scalzi, but maybe from Neal Stephenson (?) and it might bring some eyes over and open some minds and challenge some preconceived notions about men, society, feminism, and even AVfM.

And then at other times, publish original fiction by readers, or publish their galleries of photographs of the incredibly cool things made by men (and women), Hoover Dam, the Golden Gate Bridge, Tesla Motors, or f'n coal mines, all that macho shit and engineering shit and stuff from here: http://www.sia-web.org/ that feminists benefit from but ignore and demean.

Okay, don't ask me how that happens, but between your readers, and reddit, who knows, you might find the connections.

Anyway, I am sure you've heard better from more informed people than me before, nor have I been in your shoes, ever.

And I know this is dumbguyscene28's vision and not your vision, and you're the one working at this, and that it requires mucho funding,

But thanks for reading anyway.
