POF is incredibly sexist, and every single one of their "policies" is written to facilitate women first and foremost(even if it's a major inconvenience/insult to men). Markus Frind, the creator of POF, is notoriously douchey. He has publicly bragged about how much money he makes, and claimed that POF ran on one single computer in his home until fairly recently BECAUSE HE IS SO GREAT AT DATABASE STUFF. Yeah, sure, whatever.
The site is making everything possible into a paid "feature" and has been the rotten armpit of online dating since not long after its inception. The design is awful, the navigation is spaghetti, the people using it are typically so bad that they can't even get dates on better sites, and worst of all, the entire management of the site and forums is anti-sexuality and anti-male. They have a "looking for" called "intimate encounter" but they only really use it to find men interested in sex and put a permanent block on their account so they can't message the majority of women who put "must not have messaged anyone who is seeking an intimate encounter" in their filter criteria.
To be honest, you wouldn't want most of the people there anyway. They're largely the lowest of the low. When you think of stereotypical losers, women who want to snag a man by deception or childbirth, and cheating married men with undisclosed herpes simplex, POF is where they like to congregate. They're on other sites too, but they also seem to be easier to avoid.
If you use POF, you need to stop.

POF is a piece of shit. Here are some other things
-Transgendered people must identify as the gender they were born or they will be banned. (i.e. a transgendered woman must state she is male in her profile or be banned and won't be able to make another profile)
-Men are not allowed shirtless photos or they we be banned, i.e. a shirtless photo of them at the beach. Women however are allowed bikini photos.
-You cannot message someone with more than 14 years age difference because "there is no reason why you should" be messaging someone that must older than you.
The guy who runs POF is named Markus and is a total tool. I'm going to be judgmental and go out on a limb here and say that he has issues with other men because he's a nerd (look up some pics of him). There were a couple other ridiculous rules but I forget them right now.

Well, the flipside is that I don't go into every relationship expecting to get married. So in general I find the question off putting. I see ads from women saying they are looking for a long term relationship and to get settled down, and I would like to find someone for some coffee and a few dates and then see what happens.
I get the impression that if I go on a few dates with someone looking to settle down and we're not a fit and I stop seeing that person that someone I am to blame, ...

POF is just plain weird.
I would say I'm not a Christian, and give my religion, and say religion is sort of important but not a big deal. And I would say my zip code, but that more than 10 miles away was way too far away.

The problem with that is, once you start excusing inequalities (like allowing one gender to do something, but not the other), you no longer have equality. You have exactly what feminists want -- what they hypocritically call 'equality' -- where the prerogatives of women are ensured by limited the freedoms and choices of men.
At the end of the day, you need a very, very good reason for any kind of inequality. Women being uncomfortable ('OMG, I saw a penis. We can't possibly just ban the offender and move on! We need to punish all men so that this never happens again!') is not a valid reason.
Edit: to add, your argument is exactly we get feminists arguing that 'equality of opportunity' matters more than equal rights.

But this is a company, and they are pragmatic. If girls dont log on, they dissapear tomorrow, and as long as girls are there, guys wont abandon it either.
So theres a dick pick problem, and this is their solution. It isnt them keeping the man down, and the issue here is beta blue pill men who think the dick is their key to getting a girl. The issue is inequality, but by the time they reach pof, its too late.
Direct the discussion to men growing up, not knowing how to attract, and be men. Id bet man hour per man hour, spending this time discussing how to put these kind of lessons into life, than getting mad of pof s pragmatic decision will give better results.

This isn't the work of feminists. This is the work of a business that will lose its users unless action is taken. Its not your fault, but there are tons of men whose sole purpose on dating websites is to send out pictures of their penises. Customers don't want to deal with that (and as another person said, it happens to women A LOT), so the business did something about it.
The dick pictures aren't even the worst. I had a friend show me a few pictures of pictures of her. Apparently, some men think women will be flattered that they are ejaculating to/on pictures of women. Perhaps some are, but they'll let you know. No need to send pictures of your junk or your spunk unless asked for it.
And realistically, if I ran a dating website, I think it would be easier to ban all pictures from strangers than it would be to hire enough moderators to block the 1% of users who do this. At that point, it's too late, the recipient is already convinced your site is full of perverts.

POF is garbage, and it's going to get you an STD if you stay there. I've probably had more sex from that site than any of you think is possible of a man. Biggest reasons? I'm half decent looking, and I have a car. More than half of those chicks will fuck you the first or second night you chat if they have the time, and you're willing to drive to them.
I made some bad decisions in my time, but every broad I met there just wanted some attention, or some cock to validate themselves (in their eyes). They're all broken people. I really have a lot of experience here. They all have STDs, bastard children, or some sort of mental disorder, even if it's minor. The "best" kind of chick you're gonna meet there is one that just doesn't think she's pretty and needs cock. Not a fantastic roster if you respect yourself as a man. And about 9 times out of 10 these chicks do not give fucks about using a condom.
If you really want to live a happy MR life, stay WELL clear from this site. I was very lucky to leave that scene unscathed.
What I notice from most guys that don't really get anywhere on the site, is that they leave wondering "what's wrong with me?" for a variety of reasons including never receiving messages or getting awful messages from girls. This is not your fault, there's nothing "wrong" with you with regards to the site. The girls there are just broken, and misery loves company, as they say. The site is fine tuned to give gals anything they could be looking for, and the site completely disregards your stance, as a male.
Also, there is a certain type of male that prowls that site that you won't be able to keep up with.
Respect yourselves, stay clear of this site, find play in other ways, you're much better off. OKCupid isn't a whole lot different.
