Having seen the recent billboard that has an image of a boy on it and on it the caption "Teach your son to respect women." (How does that not sound like a blatant threat?). And that absolute joke of an "organization" UN Women recently posted on their social media about always having respect for women and as usual nothing about also respecting men. Fortunately a lot of people seem to have their heads screwed on right and many are saying respect is something both genders need to earn and it isn't something granted due to being either male or female. Which is 100% the truth. I have respect for good, kind women and men alike who deserve and have earned it by doing good things that merit it. But to not just expect but outright demand respect due to being female, or male for that matter? Nope, someone who does that automatically disqualifies for respect. To make respect a gender-based issue and to automatically have blind respect for all women and girls cheapens and de-values what respect is all about.

I think this whole mantra of "respect women" is a big reason we see so many bad women and girls get away with so much without being reprimanded and why men and boys who've been harmed by them don't come forward; because somehow they feel they're being disrespectful if they question, criticize or report a woman/girl having done something wrong and a woman/girl doing something wrong is somehow okay and acceptable, when it's not at all. Anybody who does something wrong and illegal should be equally punished regardless of gender. Respect is earned by those who conduct themselves in a respectable fashion, and this goes for both men and women. If you conduct yourself in a way that's unrespectable, then you don't get respect whatsoever. It's simple as that.
