So I've been working at FedEx for the past 3 months and doing extremely well. And before this, I was working for a steel mill which is now out of business. It took me a year of laid off to find this job. Since we are handling federal mail, I need to be registered for the draft to work here. Well, despite me clearly remember doing it in my teens, for whatever reason, it never registered me. I am in my 30s now. I never worked a federal job or went to college. So it was never made aware to me in my life that I was not registered, which I would have promptly corrected. But now, because of this, my job is being threatened. If I can't get an exemption, which I have contacted local politicians about, I am essentially going to be fired.

Just learning of this entire situation now, in my 30s, how is this not a form of gender discrimination? A woman can replace me for my job now because the postal service fucked up my draft registration over a decade ago? This is not right on any level and I am just wondering if anyone has any advice that might help me save my job, as I am in a lot of trouble if I should lose it.
