Doesn't matter. The health angle was always a smoke screen anyway (if your one week old boy is having a lot of unprotected sex there are other more pressing issues).

Traditionalists support it because, well tradition.

Feminists support it because making this in to a problem clearly shows that oppression isn't a one way street (also they don't want people to stop talking exclusively about FGM).

Many people support it because it's "the norm".

A a few fringe, dangerous, unhinged radicals oppose it because . . . you're permanently mutilating the genitals of a child without their consent to adhere to some idiotic religious/aesthetic appeal.

You guys did see that they did not test for HIV in this study. I am all for stopping circumcision, but I would have never believed it would have stopped the skin to skin contact ones (HPV,herpes,syphilis) or something like chlamydia or gonorrhea that easily take hold in the urinary tract. HIV is a whole different animal because of its more difficult requirements for transference to males.
