The "EAAA Sexual Assault Resistance program" is shown in studies to reduce college rape by 46% (the vast majority of programs have no effects). But feminists consider teaching women not to get raped to be problematic as it takes the focus away from the real problem (toxic masculinity).

When parents say "boys will be boys" its not just an excuce. Most parents think that (generally) boys are naturally different to girls, and so they need to learn to deal with things differently (blowing off steam with sports, keeping a lid on things when they're mad, etc).

This is such a revelation (not).

It reminds me of my misspent youth when I was Rock Climbing. We were taught to look to our own safety first, other climbers second and to not require the Mountain to change and treat us nice.

The same occurred when I was learning to drive. I was taught to Drive defensively - I drove my vehicle and was aware that idiots drove other vehicles and that the Road didn't give a Fuck if I crashed, burned or got flipped the bird by an ass.

It's not blaming women it's teaching self-defence which is an incredibly intelligent response to this sort of thing and something that men should do too. Feminists can't have self-confident women walking about at night and realising feminists are full of shit. No, because then they might not vote Democrat and support feminism unquestioningly because they're not irrationally terrified of the straight white male.

I dont really get the whole "teach men to not rape" movement because if someones gon a rape you they arent about to listen because an adult told them not to when they were younger.

Its like telling a criminal "oh dont u dare break the law anymore" and then say I dont need any self defense, we told the criminal not to break the law.

Better not lock my car/house up because we told all the people not to steal so they won't.

Yeah and fucks with a kids head. I had a physical with a female doctor as a young male kid wanting to do wrestling. She gave me the whole "your body is going through changes" thing and specfically said "if she says no she means no" ok makes sense.....but she then repeated it several times. "no means no, remember that".

That shit made me paranoid to this day about relationships and the tone in which she said it.

How about we tackle the problem instead of shaming an entire gender for it and ignorantly act like it is all their fault.

Yes, I agree: this is very revealing - about feminism.

All the whining about a statistically tiny number of rapes on campus (just 1 in 45,300 per year here in Australia, according to feminists themselves), yet they flat out refuse to use the only solution which actually works for solely ideological reasons.

Feminists cannot honestly claim to care about women being raped, when they clearly care much more about promoting their ideology of helplessness and victimhood even at the cost of women being raped.

Unit 1 (Assess) focused on improving women’s assessment of the risk of sexual assault by male acquaintances and developing problem-solving strategies to reduce perpetrator advantages.

Unit 2 (Acknowledge) assisted women to more quickly acknowledge the danger in situations that have turned coercive, explore ways to overcome emotional barriers to resisting the unwanted sexual behaviors of men who were known to them, and practice resisting verbal coercion.

Unit 3 (Act) offered instruction about and practice of effective options for resistance; this unit included 2 hours of self-defense training based on Wen-Do.30 The unit focused on common sexual assault situations involving acquaintances and defense against attackers who were larger than the woman.

Unit 4 (Sexuality and Relationships) aimed to integrate content from the previous units into participants’ sexual lives by providing sexual information, including the slang and scientific terms for a wide range of possible sexual activities beyond intercourse and health and safer-sex practices, and a context to explore their sexual attitudes, values, and desires and to develop strategies for sexual communication.

I'm not much impressed with the gendering here. Aren't these good advice for anyone, male or female?

[–]genkernels 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is a specifically women's program, and any discussion involved in the course is going to be a heck of a lot more comfortable with a single-gender audience rather than a mostly-single-gender audience.

There is absolutely no problem with single gender programs and events, the problems start when the government starts offering a service to only one gender, or restricting single gender programs and events for only one gender.

Feminism hurts women too.

What I thought was funny was the section in the middle where they attempt to deal with feminist resistance to their program and the supposed negatives of 'victim blaming'.

They say that telling women how to change their behaviours to minimize risk isn't successful, because it negatively impacts their quality of life and doesn't have any supposed efficacy, that their program does it completely differently, and has women in the workshops brainstorming ways to mitigate or offset 'risk factors' like alcohol or drugs.

Presumably, once they've brainstormed, they will have a suite of techniques they will use to mitigate those risks, right? Like buddying up when you're drinking, always having a ride home, being choosy about who you drink and do drugs around, being picky about who gets to come into your home, or whose home you go into ... which is pretty much what the 'victim blamers' are telling women to do. I guess if women negatively impact their own qualify of life with their own brainstormed techniques, it's vastly different than someone else basically telling them the same techniques?

No matter what, you have to change your behaviour in some capacity to offset those risk factors. It's unavoidable.

They have to do that because they are promoting the program.

Presumably, once they've brainstormed, they will have a suite of techniques they will use to mitigate those risks, right? I suspect it's more useful than just "stay out of trouble", because women already know that. Say they end up drunk in a room with a guy and suddenly decide they don't want to be there. What do they do? A sober person can easily say shit like "Tell him firmly no and push him away screaming out "RAPE" if he won't take no for an answer, get a cab or Uber, call the cops if he's physically attacked you", etc.

Lots of women will get themselves into dangerous situations (drunken hookups), also need to know how to get out if things go bad.

There's also a lot of myths that needs dispelling. Like, a woman is no more likely to be hurt if she fights back with proportionate force (and they are quite likely to scare off an attacker if they do use force). A guy might choose to ignore or misinterpret a bit of token resistance, but can't ignore stronger resistance (in the very common case that the guy doesn't think it's actually rape). And resistance could even work if dealing with a psychopath who will be afraid of getting their face scratched and DNA getting under fingernails.

Rape is an industry to feminists and outrage farmers. Asking them to support programs that actually reduce rape is like asking tobacco companies to support programs that reduce smoking.

Imagine being so stupid, you won't take responsibility for own safety.

[–]FrogTrainer 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hey we developed a program that actually reduces rape!

Feminists: does it shame men?

Well no.

Feminists: NEXT!

[–]Blutarg 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, that's pretty good! Heck, let's all take that program.

If you read the article, it actually defends against this and says that the message feminists want is getting through regardless of their distaste for how
