When things inevitably turn ugly and the film's main character, an unusually under-confident man, is brutally assaulted, he has a hard time making a (female) police officer believe the attack took place, even while being almost simultaneously blamed for provoking it.

This is different from what actually happens to men...how exactly?

...but still the film makes an important point – that abuse flourishes where it is encouraged, tacitly or otherwise. And what better way is there to encourage abuse than to either deny it occurs or to blame victims when denial is not an option?

The irony of this statement floors me. As does the patent disregard for people like Strauss, Hines, Pizzey, et al. who, again and again, refute the notion of "man = perpetrator, woman = victim" being the sole scenario.

Ya know, here's what I find interesting:

If you believe in "equality" then women should be just as "shitty" as men when women gain power, right?

If you think that women would be better than men if they had power, then you don't believe in equality.
