It's important to point out sexism whenever it occurs, even in seemingly trivial cases. The underlying attitudes that produce such articles need to be exposed and challenged.

It's completely irrelevant to say that no serious woman pays attention to Cosmo. There are tens of millions of women who do, and they form their opinions from this kind of drivel. Then they act on it.

If you think it should be ignored, then ignore it. But many of us think that it should not be ignored, because it harms both men and women.

On a side note...there's nothing I hate more than people coming here who barely ever, if at all, post and bitch about all the bitching or try to tell us "no you're doing it wrong, you have do x/y/z". I agree with you that there needs to be more quality control here but disagree when you disqualify Cosmo as something that "any serious woman" wouldn't give a shit about. Apart from being a no true scotsman fallacy, I'm afraid women DO give a shit about it. Cosmo and other women's magazines are directly contributing to relationship problems out in the real world. What they do is irresponsible in the extreme - women are impressionable and they believe what they read in their shitty magazines.
