[insert joke about black father]

I make it an issue because children need father figures

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When I was younger, I was annoyed at the bizarre combination of selfishness and lack of self-awareness that is so prevalent amongst single mothers at large.

Now that I am in my 30s, I find it nearly "offensive" that these women, for all intents and purposes knee-cap the child before he has even begun his life. Of course this is much worse with each child from a different father she has , which I have seen become more common as the years have gone by (/double facepalm).

I don't know if I have the equivalent of a woman's biological clock ticking, but I feel increasingly more protective of children as I have aged... goddamnit.

Children raised in single parent households are often times emotionally handicapped because they don’t get proper attention

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is true but is small potatoes compared to the real problem. I'm specifically referring to boys being raised by single mothers by the way. I am much more familiar with that case than girls being raised by single mothers.

Anyway children develop best when raised by their father and mother, but at the very least need a man and woman to raise them. Each one provides different types of guidance to the child but , if I recall, studies have increasingly proven that the father is far more important to the child's nurturing, development and success than the mother, and that's for both boys and girls(!).

Could be the father wasn’t interested.

It makes no sense to reproduce with someone who has no interest in being a parent though?

[–]clockworkgirl21 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

About 1/2 of pregnancies are unintended.

[–]rodrigogirao 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm not so sure about that. Except those rare cases of rape, or protection failing, or if you somehow reached reproductive age unaware of how this sex thing works... you can't say a pregnancy is ever unintended. If you decided to have unprotected sex, you accepted bun in the oven as a possible outcome.

Or moms stopping the pill without partners knowledge nor consent - after all, she deems it a correct time and he is to "man up". So what if he's declared child free.

[–]rodrigogirao 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I count that as rape by deception.

[–]clockworkgirl21 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Being irresponsible isn’t the same as saying you intended a pregnancy.

That’s like saying driving without a seatbelt is a suicide attempt.

In a way, it is.

Dad ran from his abusive woman, because he didnt consent to being a dad. Probably.
