Firstly, well done. Really - well done for taking real action.

However, I can't help pointing out that this:

...simply isn't good enough. The 'statistic' isn't 'dated', it doesn't require 'updating'; it's bald-faced bullshit. There's nothing to update about it. It's simply incorrect. It's not an 'error' it's a lie. It is simply unacceptable for a publically-funded organisation to promote untruths.

If scientists at CERN knowingly published wrong research to promote their organisation, they'd be ruined. If a doctor inflated the success rates of a surgical procedure he or she would be struck off. If a lawyer mislead a court, he or she would be disbarred and, potentially, arrested and charged.

Why should civil servants in the public's employ be held to a different standard? The code of conduct for Australian public servants requires that they 'behave with honesty and integrity and...not provide false or misleading information in an official capacity'. What's so hard to understand about that? You've pointed out that the claim is incorrect, they should take it down immediately or otherwise they are guilty of misleading the public and contravening their own code of ethics.

While we're on the subject of people being awesome, Auburn University Health Promotion and Wellness responded to my polite email (based on this comment) saying they will be changing their website's outdated copy of the local rape law.

Yay for AHRC and AU! Yay for simple emails making things a bit better.
