(Xpost r/MRActivism) Long term activism plan

Now I know this is going to be at least a year off but if I write this somewhere public I will more likely follow through. Please bear with me. I have been a strong supporter of the MRM for maybe a year now. With all the talk of abused men not getting any kind of help I set it upon myself to open a mens and family domestic violence clinic. Of coarse there are a few problems with this.

1: I have no clue where i will be in a years time. I am joining the Coast Guard and am heading off to boot camp soon, if I am put on a ship progress will be halted or slowed for a few more years.

2: Money as always. My income will be secured but not enough so that I would be able to finance such a venture without aid.

3: Local laws. This will have to be dealt with when the time comes.

4: Volunteers will be an big issue as I personally will not have the time to help every single person every single day.

If you can think of any issues I may have forgotten/solutions to said issues please comment them below.

Men's rights can go in two directions. We can either:

1) Go in the direction that feminists and Red Pillers go in which the genders are separated. Men's shelters for men, women's shelters for women. I feel this is bad in that this leads to a needless separation in society.

2) Go in the direction of 'integration' or whatever you want to call it in which domestic abuse shelters are domestic abuse shelters. I feel this is a better idea because it combats the idea that men and women should be separate and separated in these cases. So what if women are uncomfortable around men or men are uncomfortable around women. This is something that should be prevalent in a small number of cases. You should not see all of the other gender as bad and potentially harmful and then attend a shelter solely devoted to servicing your gender. Why? Because the issue is not "gender", the issue is abuse.]

You're turning domestic abuse into a gendered issue when it should not be.

Yes, I read what you wrote. Stop being condescending.

You are making the primary focus on the gender, not on the abuse. What evidence do you have that the victims will all adopt this fear of the other gender due to abuse? I'm not taking that stance. I'm taking the stance that the victim will fear their abuser. Period.

I mean shit, should we also separate shelters based on economic status with some shelters catering to one income class and another catering to another income class? What if a poor person walks in was abused by a rich person and there is a rich person in the room? What if the victim has an irrational fear of rich people? What if the victim is another race?

Let me guess, this argument is stupid and completely missing the point right? I agree. So is assuming victims should separate by gender. This breeds irrational fear. Think of how you are treating the victim and how the victim would internalize this treatment. I would send them to a domestic abuse shelter because they have suffered from domestic abuse. You would send them to a men's only domestic abuse shelter because, why? Because they should fear women?

This is EXACTLY how feminists operate. You're just like them, the only thing you've changed is the gender.
