Abortion. Is that still a thing?
Abortions save men's lives. Any man not 100% supporting abortions actively hates men, because they're religious morons.

I had an abortion three years ago.

Abortion should be legal because women can still get them done illegally if they're truly desperate.
The illegality can hurt both the babies and the mothers if the abortions are done in an unsafe manner (illegally).
I think the solution isn't to ban something, now that it exists. Because all it will do is produce unwanted children.
Children of the parents that did not want these kids don't turn out so great.
Not to mention, children in orphanages experience lots of trauma and loss. So dumping them off at the orphanage can turn out bad for society. They're a lot less privileged in every way, and have to essentially raise themselves. Also, the bullying there is brutal...
Additionally, the worlds population isn't gonna take a huge blow, since we're already overflowing.
So, since abortion is an option, it would be irrational to vote it out of your country, and make it a crime is even more silly. What are you gonna do? Put a pregnant woman in prison and let that child grow up without a mother once it's born?
Let me also say that while abortion should be legal, it should be heavily discouraged. And education should be implemented to nullify the need for abortion.
I do agree that abortion is immoral, and teens should be taught better about condom use, the pill and plan B.
Even better, installing a more old fashioned dating scene, where sex isn't available at the swipe on the screen. Valuing sex instead of letting anyone cum inside you as they please.
It would make it easier for good men that happen to be less attractive (a % of that bottom 80% of men) to find a partner if monogamy was encouraged and casual sex shamed more.
In the end, abortion should be legal, but regulated. Education that leads to stronger monogamy and weaker casual sex having scene would be ideal to minimise the number of people being born into families that don't love them, or number of people being killed by being aborted.

I honestly don't care if it is legal or not, just don't make it tax payer funded. Same with single moms, I don't care how many children women want to have out of wedlock just pay for them yourself.
Lol, that ain't happening.

It might be in your interest. You know who shouldn't have kids? The people who wanna abort them. And these kids, if they're born, they're gonna be a strain on the system. You're gonna pay a lot more when that kid ends up in poverty or prison.
Better to give an extra couple dollars every month than to fund them after they've born.
You can't have abortions all the time. 3-5 max, then your uterus can't make any more babies.

There probably should be some sort of policy on babies who they can tell will have mental handicaps before they're even born. The parents may want them but the parents usually die first and that leaves them under the care of taxpayers and their quality of life is non-existent
I don't blame parents for choosing it either, I don't think it's selfish or wrong for someone to not want to take on a greater burden than they signed up for. And being all "just adopt" is just creating the same problem where it's a burden being pushed off on someone else
[–]Bandit174🦝 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
What kind of policy are you thinking of?
[–]Mimoxs 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I feel like if the disability is severe enough that they will be basically non responsive and literally unable to do anything other than exist, it's probably for the better for both themselves and society not to have to suffer like that. Parents think irrationally and won't do what's best.
[–]Bandit174🦝 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So that hospitals would be allowed to terminate the pregnancy without consent of the parents?
I don't necessarily disagree with your train of thought. They are deadweight but I dont see a policy like that gaining acceptance.
[–]Mimoxs 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Oh yeah I mean it would never fly in the modern culture, I get that, I'm just saying I personally think it would be best.
But taking autonomy away from parents is a huge no-no, at least in the West. Which imo is equally bad considering how fucking stupid some parents can be. The worst is Jehovah's witness parents trying to refuse their kids having life saving blood transfusions bc of their beliefs

Whats your opinion on allowing abortion based on more superficial genetic traits?
So for example if you they knew before the baby was born that it was likely to be short and the parents wanted to abort it and try for one with better genes.
[–]Mimoxs 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I guess that's fine, I say allow it for any reason, but I just think it should be enforced/strongly incentivized when it's over the disability.
[–]Bandit174🦝 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Interesting. It's rare for someone to be in favor of that.
Actually in regards to the disability having a financial incentive/disincentive would probably have better odds of gaining acceptance than if you wanted it to be forced.

The difference between physical abortion and financial abortion is that the former saves society money while the latter cost society money, hence why the former will always be more socially acceptable than the latter.
[–]Bandit174🦝 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I get that, but if financial abortion was allowed wouldn't the women just physically abort once they realize the guy isn't going to help them financially?
[–]SmurfESmurfersonStacy’s Post-Wall Mom 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That’s the point. So women can make a fully informed decision
So are you ok with financial abortion as long as it happens early enough that it gives the woman enough time to make an informed decision?

Yes. 100 percent
oh, I guess we agree then 😅

What’s financial abortion?
Basically within a certain window of time the guy would have the legal option to sign away rights to the child and not be obligated to pay chd support. The reasoning is that it would allow men the option to opt out of being responsible for a child they don't want just as women have an option to opt out of responsibility for a child they don't want.
Probably won't ever happen tho.

When the baby daddy wishes to abdicate all responsibilities in the financial caring of the child in question.
