CMV: Even rapists think rape is wrong.

I think most people would agree that rape is bad. But when most people think of "rape", they think of some greasy stranger in an alley forcing himself on a helpless woman. Most rape is committed by someone the victim already knows and a lot of these circumstances happen in grey areas (like the drunk scenarios which you excluded from this CMV). So while most guys will say "rape is wrong!", most guys will also say "I've never raped anyone, because I'm not hanging out in alleys waiting for a hot stranger to walk by". A guy can justify a rape by saying "she was asking for it" or "she was coming onto me and I could tell she wanted it". Or if a couple had previously had sex the guy might think that it's not rape if he has sex with her again, even if she says no. Or if a chick tells a guy that she's interested and then changes her mind, he might think it's not rape if he still comes on to her because she said yes previously.

Anyways, you excluded a lot of scenarios, I'm only talking about male rapists, and none of us have sources to back up anything we're saying. But my main point is that a lot of guys who have raped someone probably don't consider themselves to be rapists, especially if they think rape is a heinous crime.

Well, you don't get a lot of criminals in general who would argue crime isn't bad. Theres a lot of "hamstering", as this sub would term it, in the moment to justify it to themselves.

I think serial rapists are either:

born with different brains that don't allow them to empathize with people in the usual ways. Everything from men who rape their wives to men who rape and murder for thrills (psychopaths).
uneducated and brought up to believe that women are less than men (objects, not people). Everything from men who rape their wives to men who rape and murder people in other towns because they were told to by their leader/religious leaders.
educated and intelligent but for some reason believe that women must be punished. They know that the law considers rape wrong but they don't consider it wrong because they're carrying out vengeance. These men are most probably narcissists/psychopaths/sociopaths.
pedophiles who somehow make themselves believe that a child will become a willing participant over time or enjoy a child's fear and pain and terror. They don't see the child as being a human being like themselves but as an object of their fantasy. It's very similar to how a man can rape a struggling, terrified woman and justify it to himself.

What if the rapist doesn't have a moral code ? Then he technically wouldn't view rape as wrong , morals would simply not matter for him.

What about some husbands who rape their wives because they think they're entitled to sex because they're married? I imagine a lot of those guys don't view their actions as wrong , they think that controlling their wives sexuality is a normal thing.

Well, from reading /r/TheBluePill and seeing them say that there are RP men who like to rape and do not think rape is wrong, I think I may have been naive.

This is reached from a different angle. I don't think I have seen any RP male here say they think rape is not wrong. What is the case is in some of those 'grey' areas BP is more likely to say it constitutes rape, and RP is more likely to say it does not constitute rape.

For example I was reading a comment which said they do not believe a man can rape his wife (or that it shouldn't be classified as rape) maybe last week (note;this is NOT a endorsed view and another RP challenged him/her on it), in these circumstances the individual may believe rape is wrong, but a man forcing his wife to have sex is not rape, and not wrong. These things serve as ammo for TPB, and anti-RP in general.

People with personality disorders don't have the same sense of right and wrong, they do know other people have it though.

Hmm , I think RAINN said the contrary, that rapists think there is nothing wrong with rape and think everyone rape. It's a rationalization hamster!!1!1! Considering RAINN also said 80% of rapists are repeat offender , it is pretty legit, cause at one point , you have to rationalize your sick fetishes to live with yourself.

Like any crime, I imagine a lot of rapists know rape is wrong but do it anyway. The rest probably hamsterize why they aren't raping in that particular instance.

I think people who violently rape others or premeditate it (unless suffering a major mental disease) know that rape is wrong and do it anyways. But there are other rapists who "hamster" ways into thinking they aren't rapists. They'll convince themselves the drunk, passed out girl gave consent or was aware and wanted it. They'll convince themselves that, even though she said no, she didn't fight him off too hard. They'll convince themselves that she orgasmed so it couldn't of been raped because she "enjoyed" it. Kind of an off shoot of the fundamental attribution error logical fallacy.
