A couple things. There's a lot of confusion around here about the term hypergamy and that's because there are two different definitions, and one if them is more widely used by RP. The first definition is a sociological term for women tending to marry up in terms of status. This compares the man to the woman. The second, more widely used in RP, is psychological, the observation that women prefer to sleep with (not necessarily marry) the absolute best men they can get across a number of weighted domains. This type compares men to other men, not to women.

In the sociological sense marriage tends to be more assortative overall than hypergamous because high value men know when they're getting a shit deal and just won't take it. In short term relationships the second definition of hypergamy is on display because it better suits the sexual imperative of high value men, and women know that, they just don't care. This is what creates the AF/BB dichotomy.

All women are hypergamous. What constitutes hypergamy varies greatly between individual women, though, and a man does not have to be superior in every single way for a given woman to be attracted to him.

The contention is that the women who are hypergamously attracted to the particular qualities that TRP tries to cultivate do have psychological issues because they are attracted to qualities that are ultimately not in their best interest, in this case, men who are willing to plate women and not provide them with the long-term commitment that is part of the female imperative.

Too many times in this sub i read people trying to explain away truths by offering one-off special circumstance type explanations. "Emotionally damaged women" , "narcissists" , in general i have observed these types of fringe phenomenon to be irrelevant because they arent large enough to skew the whole. What you see and what you think is right through intuition, is what is right. Dont listen to the people that offer the classic "unique circumstance" explanations. Hopefully that makes sense, i didnt know a better way to convey my point.

Women are hypergamous but TRP also says that's a good thing for men because it encourages them to improve themselves, make more money, go the the gym, find hobbies. If women weren't hypergamous then were's the intencive for men to better themselves ? That's just natural selection at work.

The “no you” defense isn’t a good argument.
There are way more unsuccessful guys in TRP than there are successful guys. I will bet my left nut on that. It’s supposed to be a sort of self-help sub for people who are unsuccessful with women to become successful. There are not many women gravitating toward TRP members simply because they are proponents of TRP strategy.

Women seek many things from many people. People seek many things from many people. If someone has what another wants, guess what? They’ll get close to that person to gain access to it because it’s much easier than trying to get it themselves. Someone has already done the work for you, so getting access to it through them becomes the task. Looks, wealth and resources are all on the table. If someone has all three, great. They’re at the top of the list. If someone has two out of three, they’re next on the list. If someone only has one of the three, try to get as much as you can. One person with one of the three and another person with a different one of the three makes two out of three. It sounds shitty but this is how people think when they themselves have nothing.

This is basically what relationships are. Everyone basically uses others to gain things that they want. Some people give up their bodies, while others give up their time, energy and material goods. The SMP is an actual marketplace with a bartering system, and those that have the most to give are also the ones who receive the most. It is what it is.
