I stumbled across this article today. The article breaks down the results of a study examining the evolutionary roots behind the differences in male and female serial killers.

Interestingly, the major difference appears to be the motivation:

Harrison also saw evidence of evolutionary influences in what drove women to kill. While most murders by male serial killers tend to involve sex in some way — a 1995 study found that male serial killings are characterized by a desire for domination, control, humiliation and sadistic sexual violence — women are more likely to kill for money or power.

Another interesting side note is that these women all used their gender as a weapon, to placate or lure victims before striking.

The final tidbit I found interesting is that female serial killers tend to kill people they know, as opposed to male serial killers' preference for strangers.

All of these topics get debated at length here, so I thought this was a fresh perspective. Am interested to hear thoughts!
