Red Pill subscribers: What exactly does taking The Red Pill mean to you?

I agree 100%. TRP, as it stands, goes way beyond sexual strategy. The mods could reign it in if they wanted, but they haven't made a significant effort to do so. If TRP was really a sexual strategy sub, you'd separate it into two sections.

1.) Short term relationships, ONS. This would consist mainly of advice on how to make yourself more attractive. Fashion advice, workout advice, dieting advice. There would also be some content about confidence.

2.) Long term relationships. This would consist more of male/female relations advice. The focus would be on improving your career and social skills.

what does the Red Pill mean to you?

To me, it means realizing that the narrative of human nature and relationships that is popular is actually a lie. Specifically, it is a lie that men and women have identical (or nearly identical) drives and motivations. It's also a lie that the differences we observe are a result of culture.

To me, the red pill means accepting truths about human nature even if those truths are unpleasant.

the rest are about how women make terrible friends, women doing bad things to men, feminism doing bad things to everyone, and men being a subjugated class.

Well, there are plenty of unpleasant truths about men, but society doesn't cover those up. It isn't shocking to anyone that most serial killers are white males, for example. Everybody knows that. If people didn't know that, or if people denied it, then it'd be a "red pill truth" and you might see posts showing examples of serial killers.

Note also: I chose serial killers as my example precisely because it's the worst thing I could think of. I hope that you'll say, "wow, he's willing to really slam men - by contrast, saying women make terrible friends is nowhere near as bad." But, some part of me knows that blue pillers will say, "zomg he's comparing serial murder to being a bad friend!!" - and then I'll just laugh and laugh.

I have had a Red Pill moderator tell me multiple times that The Red Pill is just about guys becoming better at sex and the attainment thereof. That's never sat too well with me, since a cursory glance at /r/theredpill[1] 's front page shows about six or seven posts that are actually about sex, and the rest are about how women make terrible friends, women doing bad things to men, feminism doing bad things to everyone, and men being a subjugated class.

The metaphor of the red pill is a convenient term for "seeing things how they are, not how you were told they were, or how you would like them to be".

Now, the reason to "take" this "pill" is to have a better life, because you're making decision based on reality, rather than on a consensual illusion. That's where phrases like "sexual strategy" come from.

But the metaphorical "pill" itself is really some information. Specifically, it that subset of information which is:

Accurate
Useful
Flies in the face of popular, politically correct, or "safe" beliefs.

That's why pretty much everything on TRP shocks and offends you. If it didn't, there would be no need to go to TRP to say it. TRP is a haven for saying true things that would get you lynched (figuratively or literally) anywhere else.

The sub was originally started because this information was useful for sexual strategy, but the way the scope has grown reflects people's frustration with not being able to speak truth for fear of retaliation. You may not agree about the "truth" part, but it is not in dispute that the threat of retaliation is real. SRS regulars have attempted repeatedly to discover and reveal the actual identities of TRP posters for the express purpose of inflicting physical and/or economic harm on them, directly or by proxy.

An example of how this works would be the relative scarcity of female engineers. Everyone who talks to women, engineers, and women who are engineers for little while knows perfectly well that women stay away from STEM in droves because they don't like it, and they don't have to do it.

But suggesting that this is because women don't like math, rather than because of the evil sexist Svengalis that secretly run everything, is a career-ending move. Just ask Larry Summers.

In a society where people are punished for expressing opinions contrary to a defined orthodoxy, truth becomes the province not of scientists and scholars, but of comedians, jesters, eccentrics, crackpots, outcasts, and novelists.

And this is the case regardless of what you think the truth is. Even if you think every word in TRP is inaccurate, you must still deal with the problem of how people are threatened with harm for saying them.

This is, in fact, the role of jesters. The court fool is the only man who can criticize the king, because his motley is a robe of office and a license to say what he will. Calling him "fool" regardless of whether he is foolish or wise may soothe egos wounded by his words, but I, personally, have little patience for those who cannot endure to be questioned.

/r/theredpill is a male-dominated space where we can be honest and unfiltered.

Our culture destroyed pretty much all male clubs and organizations (strip clubs don't count - men don't talk to each other in them) so we're resurrecting them online.

I've never thought of that question or the answer. I will say this, TRP intrigues me because it has shown me I have a number of views, that I always were not related to each other. For example, when I was in high school, I noticed whenever I had a gf, I was all of sudden had more contact with other women, many of whom weren't friends of my gf. Some would ask for more help in class and were more informal with me in general, some seemed to consider me a new friend and confided in me. Again, this rarely had anything to do with my gf but I did notice that most women that knew me and my gf related to me at least a little differently. I had no idea at the time, but this was what TRP calls socail proofing. I also think the welfare state has had unforseen negative consequences for society and that Fight Club will one day be seen as a kind of scripture. My point is, TRP, to me isn't one view, its a collection of them, with an underlying logic that I haven't figured out. I think it appeals to a certain personality type and not so much a shared experience. What's interesting to me is that so many other people, from different states and even countries, more or less agree, prior to even finding TRP without ever meeting.
