The more you fill your mind up with God’s word, have a mission and spend time learning from NoFap materials, like those listed above, the more your motivation to quit will increase.

Having had a relapse myself a while ago, I listened to universal man’s videos each day and it inspired me to keep going. My longest PMO free stint was 20 months. It can be done.

Topic comes up fairly often. Here's my copy pasta

Most people know that getting rid of porn is bad (take off the old self), but it must be replaced with the new self.

Focusing on stopping the old self only tempts you to continue to be stuck in your old habits: you keep thinking about it so it's a temptation and it's way easy to fall back into it.

This is why we always keep harping God's mission for you, and development of the Christian walk in OYS. For example...

To do this, it would be helpful to get to know how you're doing in a variety of areas. To that end, just as God is triune, he created us with three core parts of our being: our physical bodies, our heart/mind, and our spirit/soul. Try to cover all three. Use the questions in each category as inspiration, but roll with whatever you need to put out there.

PHYSICAL: How are you doing with lifting? Losing weight? Where's your body fat %? What have you been eating lately? How about your porn/alcohol/drug/cigarette/whatever use? Are you employing kino on your wife properly? Are you going too far with your girlfriend? How's your fashion sense? Are you still lounging around the house in gym shorts and using your ratty flip flops when you go out? How are you spending your time? How's your income doing? Your body is God's temple: are you reflecting that appropriately? For married men: how's your sex life?

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL: How have you been doing reading and learning new things? How's your frame? Do you still struggle with living up to someone else's expectations? Have you mastered Agree & Amplify? Amused Mastery? Negative Inquiry? STFU? Your DNGAF attitude? Are you failing fitness or comfort tests? How are you leading your wife/girlfriend this week? Do you feel pressure from any sources to do something or to act/not act a certain way? Are you depressed or lonely? Are you secure in your heart/mind that God's will is good, even if it's not what you want?

SPIRITUAL: How are you doing on the 7 basics? Rank yourself: Assurance of Salvation, Quiet Time/Devotional, Bible Study, Scripture Memory, Prayer, Evangelism, Fellowship. Have you solidified your mission - and does it have eternal consequences or does it only affect this world? Does your mission extend beyond the home? Do you have someone discipling you? Are you discipling anyone else? Have you talked with your non-Christian friends about Christ recently? Are there parts of the Bible you're just not understanding? How are things going with your church or small group?

You must be replacing the old habits/self with the new self. All of the things in the Spiritual category are a good place to start, but the physical and mental/emotional can help too. Focus on developing the new self and the old habits will fall away because you're not focusing on them anymore.

I watched porn for 15+ years and couldn't break it by doing it myself or trying to avoid temptation. It was only when I stopped focusing on it and focused on my mission for God and having a one track mind toward it that I was able to be set free.

TL;DR stop focusing on trying to stop the habits of the old self as it's easy for thinking about those habits to tempt you back into doing it. Start focusing on developing the new self and putting all your efforts toward it.

I agree with the other posters, a blocker or accountability app will not stop you, it will just slow you down a little.

My Recommendation?

Own it! Find some Christian guys you can trust and are willing to come beside you, if they are currently struggling with porn they may not be the right person but you will have to decide that, Ecclesiastes 4:12 talks about walking together through battles. I personally think it should be someone you know well and is willing to smack you up side the head, you may have to look a little harder than you would first think, a lot of christian guys are not ready to be MEN. After you find they guy/guys you can trust you have to come clean, not just kinda clean but fully clean, be willing to lay it all on the line and tell the safe MAN your crap. the reason that coming clean is so important is that anything you don't disclose, the Devil will use like a hook in the mouth of a fish and reel you back in.

Let go of the SHAME, you are forgiven when you confess your sins to God, your sin may have lasting consequences but guilt and shame are not the same thing, the shame is also used by the devil to pull you back in, you have to be broken to GOD about your sin.

Identify the triggers, when is it hard to not look at porn? when you fought with someone you care about? when you watch a movie with a pretty woman in it? when you start fantasizing about someone? when you have a drink? Think of it this way, then you fail in the past did you just dive right in or did it start small? looking just a little longer then you needed at a butt or clicking on that link that "wasn't really porn"? Next time you think about looking or clicking (the very first step) stop yourself and say "why am I doing this?" "am I hungry? tired? stressed? angry?" you have to stop fire when it first gets started not after the building is engulfed so pay attention to the smoke.

Thoughts, You don't have a porn problem, you have a thinking problem, the Bible had a lot to say about your thoughts, every evil thing ever done started out as a thought, Take your thoughts captive, control them or they will control you. In general: We do what we do, because we feel the way we feel. We feel the way we feel because we think the way we think. This is also a time where you are going to call on the Holy Spirit to strengthen you, don't be afraid to talk to God out loud or to condemn the devil out loud, be bold, its part of being a MAN.

Get an accountability partner and let them monitor any potentially bad browsing with Covenant Eyes. In my experience, the shame and embarrassment of your partner seeing your activity is more effective than blockers. And it has blockers too.

I agree with everyone here, that you basically need to change the way you live. Still, it's a long process. Recovering alcoholics usually don't carry a flask of whiskey. Blocking is a big help during the process.

I have a Netgear router with Circle for my home wifi. It lets me turn off the internet at certain times; this helps me focus and do things that are actually restful, instead of watching videos etc.

As for my phone, in app permissions, I turn off cellular internet access for my wedding browser.

I also have my phone rooted so I can edit /etc/hosts and permanently block certain sites that I don't want to waste time on. PM me if you want help doing this; it takes some learning, but for me, it's been helpful, and kind of fun to learn.
