Reflections with RPWi: 10/03/2016

Good: First, we survived the flood! I cannot say enough amazing things about how our city came together to save each other - complete strangers reaching out a helping hand and going above and beyond. I am finally back to work today and the mayor challenged the bicycling community to visit 15 establishments that were closed for the flood and get a drink at each, so we may be doing that this coming weekend after my DAR meeting. Oh - my DAR application was finally verified, I'm official now! Woo hoo! Also, my baseball season is over, and I did not repeat last year's horribly embarrassing tantrum when it happened. Instead, I made dinner and fixed us each a drink and went to commiserate with other Cardinals fans on Reddit. Also, church on Sunday was really good - it hit me in all the right ways, I definitely felt I left with my cup full.

Bad: Drank too much at Oktoberfest, got whiny and emotional over things I have no control over. Got over it pretty quickly though, moved past it and didn't dwell.

Ugly: Totally woke up sick on Friday - how is it that I was off work ALL week, and it waits to kick in at the very end of it?? Totally unfair. I am starting to feel better today but I'm still very stuffy and a little foggy.

Bonus: The government is broken, but we did it to ourselves, the middle class is screwed and it's all our own fault.

Good: We invited a few friends for dinner at our house and it went really well! They loved my cooking and especially my desserts. :)

Bad: There are major changes at my part-time job and it makes me reconsider staying there or not. Thankfully my husband is totally on board with me quitting the job and becoming a SAHW, so I might do this. :)

Ugly: I ate too much desserts and chips and now I feel bloated. :(

BONUS: World War 1 PTSD "treatments" were a disaster.

good: This past week I was sick like a dog and I was great about not taking it out on my SO. But....

bad: I dunno wtf happened but on saturday I was supposed to just relax all day. I felt I was owed it (can you see where this is goin?) and so when that didn't happen I just got so frustrated. I stormed... STORMED... out of the room and needed space. Well I guess I didn't take it out on my SO but I know he was like 'w.t.f just happened'. Honestly I felt entitled to just relax but shit kept coming up that I was just disappointed and my brain was racing. I should have paused. i didn't I will do better this week. but then.....

ugly: you could say the tantrum I threw was ugly. So lets just say that.

Bonus: A man walks into the desert to free people but destroys them while three women navigate their own powers to help save the world.

Good: I've been trying to work out regularly, despite this meaning I am out the door by 430am. I've been sleepy and sore, but Hubby was driving me home from work and said that he was proud of me for sticking it out and keeping to the routine.

Bad: My housework has fallen behind. Still needing to fix things from since before I moved in (ceiling mold in one room. Getting it under control, but still not gone).

Ugly: Saw a woman having a mental breakdown outside at a friend's house and froze. My friend's wife stepped in and was a person who helped calm her down, but I stopped in my tracks. I'm upset because I should have been selfless and helped her, or at least helped my friend's wife, instead of staring like a deer in headlights. I want to be a person who helps others in need, not cowers.

Bonus: A man steals money from thieves, unwillingly leaving a path of carnage behind him & loses in the end despite his best efforts.

Good: I worked on house tidiness, and have removed some older toys to make things easier and got some new storage boxes that double as seats.

Bad: had to rearrange a planned day with husband from last week to this.. And was I kind of a bitch about it :'( I complained to husband about not replying to txts at work, which wasn't helpful when he was busy.

I did rearrange for this Friday tho, so not all bad.

Ugly: well, linked to my crabbiness above, I've had bizarre hormones this month, thought I was starting, but spotted for a week, and am on about day 12 of needing a towel. Went doctor and she said probably a one off, but I never got this before.

Bonus: Noir setting mixed with hypercapitalism and slavery

good: exercising, trying to be organized and diligent with schedule. i'm a bit pessimistic about this week so i can't think of anything else except that my life is....good. it's simply myself i need to work on.

bad/ugly: time management is all over the place. frustrated that i hardly spent time with my SO on fri/sat. sunday i had work to do, but tried to put it aside and went out with him regardless.

my MOOD was not great, though. i kept recognizing my horrible moods, but had the worst time curbing them. i think it's linked to PMS and lack of sleep, but it seems a little early for that.

i've been a little emotional with my SO, and i think he's noticed, but he's too sweet to call me out on it. he came home one night and didn't say hi because he thought i was sleeping, but i became sad/insecure that he didn't come to see me. he was upset that i plugged in his macbook when i was cleaning (total accident), and we had a weird disconnected conversation that reaaaaallly upset me. i just wanted to talk to him after i had such a long day, but i think my attitude/mood ruined any chances of that happening.

i was (and still am) feeling very insecure for some reason, and i haven't had these feelings in a while. i keep hamstering that he doesn't want to be with me, that i'm probably boring by now, not fun enough, need to be more attractive, etc. my brain keeps pointing out details. i'm totally making a mountain out of a mole hill.

i also had a LOT of anxiety this weekend. taking some l-theanine helps, but i woke up with a panic attack during the night. i know i should lay off the caffeine, but i find it next to impossible to focus without it.

i had been reading some of the rollo tomassi/red pill sentiments, and i probably shouldn't have because that tends to set off my insecurities (what if i don't end up married, what if my youth is wasted, what if i don't have a family, what if, what if...)

i'm also just a stress ball in general. i worked the whole day saturday, then ended up cleaning my whole apartment for 3 hours. i can't relax for some reason and be the happy, stress-free person that i really want to be.

i'm trying to pinpoint WHY this is happening and how i can solve this. i'm a little overloaded with assignments and a commission that i shouldn't have taken, but i've been busier and not as stressed in the past.

different schedule from my partner; i'm working, he has time off
anxiety...can't really control this 100%, but could try increasing l-theanine and researching other methods to deal with this. i don't think it's bad enough to get medication, and i already feel better today than i did on the weekend.
lack of sleep (can control, pls get 8 hours always and wear ear plugs if boyfriend is up late gaming)
pms (can control to some degree, buy some magnesium, zinc..smell some lavender, do whatever you need to do to alleviate this)
big bills for phone, car insurance, education, yadada (can't control, but you can finish budgeting and figuring out where you'll put your income this month)
not enough time to work on assignments (CAN control, need to take more time to plan out your time management. make sure you're focused, keep the internet off)
hard time balancing time with SO/friends and the time i should be putting into my career (can control: work every day except on sundays, leave that for fun times)
resentment towards family drama (can't control, let it go)
overthinking/hamstering over small relationship details (can control; stop overthinking, STFU, keep calm, try to stay happy around him and don't let negative feelings weigh you down)
looking older / more haggard / tired -- i believe this also contributed to my negative mood. i think lack of sleep made me cringe in the mirror a lot, and makeup didn't seem to help at all. i think next sunday i need to take a day to just put on some face masks, go get my nails done, and feel pretty.

if I think of anything else that might be causing me to be in these gross moods, i'll write it down. I really want this to improve this week. Honestly, life is good, i don't know why I'm getting caught up in the small things.

Typing it out really helped clear my head at least. Sorry for the hot mess above, ugh. how dreadful.

Good: I've been so busy lately - in a good way! I've been volunteering and seeing friends, and working on some decorating around the house. We're also planning our wedding for next year, and I'm just now starting to get the ball rolling for save the dates, a dress, etc. Lots to do but so exciting!

Bad/ugly: I've been having some insecurity issues lately. My SO sometimes comments when girls are hot on TV shows and I get upset haha. I know he doesn't mean any harm so I really need to stop letting it get to me.

Good: Well I'm back here, finally, after some turbulent times. Also, life is pretty much good, I love autumn and how it makes everything so nice looking with the softer light and bright coloured leaves.

Bad: Quite a lot. I'm struggling to keep up with my work, my exercise, my cooking, me self-development and a new relationship. Some days it get's little overwhelming. Good thing is, that I have managed to keep my temper at all times, even if I'm struggling to find a balance.

Ugly: I have been eating lately too much and exercising too little, and I feel bloated. I started my routine this week, but my new boyfriend is a huge fan of snacks and more times that I would like to admit I've had too many snacks with him.

Also, I'm really tired because of my work, but I don't want him to see me tired, so I keep up happy front and it makes me feel better when I'm with him, no shit testing or nagging. But it won't change the fact that I'm tired.

Bonus: Last book I read was called "Skills of luck/happiness (this is rough translation, in my language we have one word for both) - towards good life" and despite the name it is about research that is made in the field of positive psychology and how you can improve your own happiness by yourself with scientifically tested methods.
