good:

house hunting part IV.
my partner wants me to start wedding planning soon. :)
my partner loves the recipes I currently try. These recipes are family recipes from his grandmothers mother. I can can be very frugal with them. Unfortunately they take a lot of time because some of the ingredients are hard to come by nowadays. (Cattle innards anyone?)

the bad:

I had a car accident. Someone stole right of way from the one driving before me and crashed into my car when he tried to put in the brake. Me and my partner emerged with sore necks. My neck still hurts today.
we are currently watching cats for one of my partners work mates. Free range cats wich are not amused to stay in the house. they already trashed my work bag, my partners socks, his computer back...! Hopefully my partner is able to figure out how to install the scratch post soon. It might take the edge of. I also did not know that certain cats are prone to accompanying their humans into the shower. ;) (apparently it is typical for Norwegian Forest Cats to be more loving of water but to this extent?)
my partner has to work night shift. For the next two weeks. He hates it.

Spooky: Two cats in the dark that think no one is up anymore. Also me and my female friends are having a movie night. I still need to buy sweets for this evening.

Good: Kept up with DIY projects, made spanakopita for ambitious dinner, had a really good time chatting with SO's friends. I get too swept up with friends' emotional needs but I have maintained boundaries in the last 2 weeks :D

Bad: Need to cook and write more than I have been lately.

Ugly: Had a bit of insecure (shark) week and didn't realize it in time. I comfort tested SO a lot through the week. The morning after drinking (depressant for me even in small amounts), I just hamstered too much and came out accusatory. He is a particularly good stoic and handled it in the best way. I will work harder on my patience, recognize my cycle better and not lose sight of our shared dreams that are so close to fruition.

I hope to participate a little more actively here, especially since the monthly goals align so closely with personal goals I am working toward in a new marriage and newish job.

Good: Husband and I are taking our honeymoon this week (we married earlier this year). Very excited as we pack, plan all the touristy stuff and just have time to ourselves. We are going iverseas and can't be more excited about this little adventure!

Bad: we both have been batling sinus stuff and there is no end in sight. Nervous about the plane trip making it worse since 2hr + plane rides always give me a cold anyway.

Ugly: Lot's of discouragement in some areas in my personal growth having to do with how I handle anxiety and how it can affect people around me. RPWives and my faith certainly help a lot, though. :)

Edit: Forgot to mention Halloween plans! We are just keeping it low-key. Giving out candy to the neighbor kids and watching Penny Dreadful series premier tonight.

Good: This past week has been the bees knees in my home. Diet is going good. Romance is going good. I think I have finally figured out the last piece to my SO that was missing and that was driving me a little bit crazy. But I have surrendered that part now and have been so much happier for it. With my daughter, she just got accepted into a foreign exchange program and we went to the first meeting with the other families of the students involved. I am really over the moon with my daughters success at school and am always amazed at the things she does.

Bad: nada

Spooky: The kids made those long link paper chains and decorated the house with them a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday they wound up carving pumpkins and I made pumpkin bread and honey roasted pumpkin seeds. The seeds were a flop but the bread was a hit. i also made pumpkin fat bombs for my keto diet since i can't eat bread. So overall this weekend was busy busy busy with the halloweeny stuff

This week my good and bad kind of go together.

My younger brother and his gf broke up due to general immature fuckwittery. She had been pressuring him to move in with her (and her 2 bastard children..), and his prior living situation got rough so he caved due to circumstance. That of course, came back to bite him in the ass.

My family is all over the map, so it fell on me and R to set him up with us (500 sqft apartment..3 people...yup). Fortunately R and my brother are best friends (that's how I met R) because otherwise I couldn't imagine putting this on an SO like this. So he was independently very happy to help, thank goodness.

So the bad is how hard it's been on all parties dealing with the discord in the apartment and just generally supporting my brother...the good is R and I have been getting through it like champions and being ridiculously communicative and generally constructive every step of the way. For R and I, the experience has largely been shitty but full of growth.

For my brother I think the same is true, albeit in a different way. The first two days he was an absolute wreck, but since then he's really been coming around to some RP realizations pretty independently:

"She didn't treat me with respect...but I never acted in a way that I was worthy of it"
"I let my emotions rule my actions and that allowed the situation to spiral out of control...I need to learn how to be more accountable for my own feelings."
"I set personal boundaries but I also let circumstance and pressure wear them down...if I can't respect the lines I draw in the sand why would anyone else?"

So this is all great. I told him the sad truth of the matter is our parental examples were awful and we have both suffered the consequence, but I was about his age when I began looking for solutions and improving my outlook and he will get there too. I told him I couldn't help him much, but I could give him some reading material and I encouraged him to talk with R.

So basically we are all better off for this awful experience, but for the time being we are like sardines in a tin can and have to be extremely mindful of one another to ensure no problems are allowed to fester into a problematic situation.

Good: SO got the all clear at his post-op appointment today. We are prepping for renaissance festival in two weeks - touching up costumes, buying some new camping stuff, etc. I'm making a list of things that we will need. Gotta feed my inner control freak somehow. :P I can't wait though! This is definitely my favorite time of year.

Bad/Ugly: I'm happy to report that nothing bad or ugly has happened. Yay for small miracles! :)

Spooky: We don't really do much for Halloween. I live in a pretty secluded area, so there aren't very many trick-or-treaters out here. Happy Halloween all the same!

Good: First time doing water-bath canning! It went great! All jars are properly sealed.

Bad: Ate not enough veggies and too much carbs this week.

Spooky: I recently went to a relative's farmhouse on a rainy and windy night. It was reaaaally spooky, especially because there were some rags on the clothesline, dimly lit by the house's lights, flying near one of the windows...

What we did for Halloween: Actually...not much. H and I played video games together. His back hurts nowadays so we minimize outdoor activities, and we didn't feel like watching a movie. Maybe next year we will do something else.

good: my husband is finally coming back this week! there were visa issues, so we've been apart for two weeks now.

also, we're taking a dance class together starting next week! i already went to the first class (by myself, since my husband is still abroad), and it was quite fun.

bad: we both gained A LOT of weight since we got married seven months ago. like, 12 pounds each. trying to stop the gain train and reverse it is no easy feat.

spoooooky: nothing, really. we don't really "do" halloween where i live, so...
