Wonderfully put! Can you imagine someone like the President having a really tough day--dealing with Congress and lots of tough calls with foreign policy and the press and whatnot. He walks in the door, about ready to collapse and says, "Oh, honey, I have had the longest day. I'm glad to be home."

And his wife looks at him and says, "You think your day was bad?" as she rails into tirade about the kids' teachers and her sister's problems with men and "why can't you remember to clean your pockets before putting your clothes into the laundry" and "by the way, your mother (icy tone) called and said she was excited we were going there for Easter and you never asked me [man the battle stations!]"

Very good advice and something I have to work on a lot. It's very tempting, when you have a bf with a strong character, to lean on him a lot with all your worries and stresses. But sometimes it's enough just to lean on him being there, instead of venting and loading it all on him.

It's great advice. I never thought of myself as very negative, but for the New Year I decided to be more conscious of when I complain and instead find the positive things from my day. I started noticing things like when people complain how unpleasant it is to be the person complained to and how much happier I am to head to work having been focusing on the good things from previous days.

I am constantly reminded of this excellent piece of advice.

My SO and I live together in an apartment. Above us live newlyweds of about the same age, maybe two or three years older. The walls are quite thin and I can hear the girl/woman nagging throughout the evening. I can't understand what she's saying, but it's a certain tone of voice that I am sure everybody would recognize. And wow - I do not want to be that kind of woman to my SO, or anybody really. It is rather off-putting.

So again, I am constantly reminded of this excellent piece of advice, and it creates awareness and actually makes it easier for me to be a center of positive, radiating energy

Good stuff! I love my hubs because he is a vicious dragon slayer. He loves me most when he can get a reprieve from the slaying.

This is good advice! I do find, though, that I sometimes go too far in the opposite direction -- as an introvert, I sometimes tend to bottle up my little problems rather than share them, and inevitably, this leads not to peace but to resentment. I realize this is MY problem, which has affected me throughout my life, in my relationships with family and friends too. I have to remind myself to tell my husband (in a calm way) about all the little problems affecting our household and kids, because if I leave him in the dark he'll feel excluded, and I'll start to get overwhelmed.
