This is very common with dating apps. Not everyone on there is serious about looking, and those that are may be talking to many women. Don't take it personally, and move on to your next prospect.

Likely, conversations are starting with his initiation and he's just testing to see if you'll message first ever. Us guys get bored of girls if they make us do all the heavy lifting in the rapport building.

The other replies are pretty blue pilled. A woman messaging first is a sign of interest and giving up on a guy because he's put you in a position where you have to message first will just leave you single.

I think some of these responses aren't that practical or nuanced.

You guys are on an app and haven't met yet. There is a major shift that happens after you meet. I've been in your shoes on the app, and knock on wood I have never ever been on a date where the guy didn't want another date (I have screwed up later in the run a couple of times by overinvesting but I'm great at making first impressions). I've had to borderline nag a guy who just didn't seem like he took the app/dating seriously and after finally making time for the date which was successful he was charmed and the tables turned. It only counts after meeting. Think about online dating dates as date zero, not first dates.

Have confidence in your value and follow up, don't take offense if it still doesn't amount to a date, because you're better in real life than your profile is anyway.

If after 1 date he's still flakey and unresponsive, drop it immediately.

As others point out, he might be a hot commodity and busy spinning plates. I don't mind those guys as long as they want marriage "with the right girl" eventually, and will light up considering I might be that, and frankly I wouldn't be as good as I am today if I never had guys "above" me to inspire me to self improve and max out my RMV.

Don't do it. You make it too easy for him. Move on instead.

And make a promise to your self, not to fall in love with any man you don't know :)

Remind your self about that promise when you start fantasizing of what it could be.

Only fall in love with his actions - in the mean time hold your heart close.

If you want to compete with that, message him. If you don’t, don’t.

Dating apps aren’t anything like they lead you to believe they are. Any actual attractive (career+looks) person is going to be flooded with offers. You have more competition in online dating than you ever could dream of having in real life dating, unless you go for a less attractive person.
