Less than two months from 30, I am seeing no signs of grey. ::knock on wood:: My best friend, however, has been dying her hair since we were 23 and yet, there's this strange granny hair trend, where young women dye their hair silver and call it beautiful.
While I think the above is kind of a ridiculous attempt at irony and I personally don't favor the trend, I do think grey hair can make women look distinguished and sophisticated at a certain age. Our cultural obsession with youth, however, has women dying their hair into their 80s. It's time consuming and expensive and, quite frankly, unconvincing. I tend to admire the woman who goes grey after 50 and think I'd like to do the same, depending how my hair greys.
What about you all? Can grey be beautiful, if accompanied with other youthful efforts, such as age-appropriate makeup and stylish clothing? Should women fight grey until their dying breath? At what age is it acceptable to let the grey take over (personally, I think < 50 would be too early).
