Mother of 24, 22 & 20 yr old sons, do not wear a ton of makeup(natural look) or jewelery. Keep your clothes modest looking, nothing revealing your breast and thighs. You want to present a nice girl next door look with an air of intelligence. You do not want to come off as purely eye candy. I like /u/blondie_brownie's link to the hair. Keep it out of your face and keep it simple.

Nobody is ever good enough for our sons so your job is to prove us wrong. Be sweet, polite (for god's sake never chew gum while meeting parents!!) and offer to help out the mom in the kitchen if applicable.

Not look advice but just general advice.

bring a nice bottle of white wine or red if you know what they're cooking.
bring a nice bouquet of spring flowers, this time of year tulips will make her think of spring and happy memories
bring a dessert is appropriate, to show mama that you can cook and take care of her son.
be on point with your manners, compliment the cook, offer and help wash up dishes, thank her for the invite. No talking about politics or religion at the table, instead ask her about her interests and actually pay attention

Do NOT touch your phone once. No texting, msging or taking calls unless your an on-call Dr or surgeon.

No dinner attire and heavy makeup for a day date with parents!!! You want to show them that their son made an excellent choice by picking you, not that he is going out with some harlot that doesn't know how to dress appropriately for the situation. Wear something attractive and pretty but slightly conservative. If your guy likes leggings, maybe wear a sweater dress or tunic, leggings, and boots. Have a fresh looking face with light and tasteful makeup. Hair down and neat.

There's really no need to over do it :) He picked you for a reason, show them that reason.

I met my husband's parents for the first time at their lake house which really took the pressure off because it was casual. I believe I wore a sun dress and a denim jacket.

While your SO likes leggings in not sure most of the middle aged crowd considers them pants. I'd wear a pair of nice jeans (no big tears and no really low rise) and a t shirt and cardigan with flats.

Keep your tits and ass covered, and easy on the make up. Look clean and presentable. But the most important thing for you to wear is a smile.

Most general advice I can give: keep it classy.

~~Minimal or~~ no cleavage (don't show a whole lot of skin in general)
Make sure your SO approves of the outfit (if he approves, his parents will more than likely be fine with it)
Jewelry and makeup are okay, but don't overdo it; try to be as natural as possible
Make sure your hair is presentable (brushed and styled lightly)

As far as your attitude goes:

Be sweet and kind
Be respectful to everyone, including your SO; if there was an argument or something recently, don't bring it up
Listen and show interest in what they have to say
If they have pets, interact with them as well

Bringing gifts is a bonus and often helps (ask your SO for any advice on things you could bring if you like).

My inclination is to wear dinner attire and heavy eye make up......but like I said it's during the day! Should I play it cool, or put my best foot forward.

Also, I like to wear lots of jewelry! Should I tone it down or do what I normally do. I like to be dressy anyway. Yikes :)

The other thing that is running thru my mind is....his ex. I know he had 1 other serious relationship and she met his parents. I'm wondering what she dressed like. I've seen maybe 2 pics of her. Can't really figure out , how I measure up to her or I mean her wardrobe.
