We constantly hear and talk about daddy issues - but what about mommy issues? I need to speak about this.

Relevant info to understand what I'm referring to: I'm 19, have an amazing relationship with father. He's a "real man"; reliable, hard-working, disciplined and rational. He raised me to be independent, responsible and strong-willed. Mother physically abused me as a child, died of alcoholism when I was 16 -> worst episode of my life. Impulsive, aggressive, emotional and manipulative woman.

Have any of you also experienced similar relationships with your parents? How does this show and affect you in regards to sex, relationships and general life? Have you found ways to deal with these circumstances?

Personally I've noticed these things that might be considered signs of "mommy issues" in myself: -more inclined to respect men and masculine traits -bad with women who are very emotional -difficulty with expressing femininity (even though I'm really not a masculine woman or tomboy) -due to being raised by only my father adapted "male morals" -> assertive, hard-working, "kill or be killed"-mentality for example -aversion to women who are motherly or try to act motherly with me and show empathy -disliking compliments regarding youthfulness, appearance, demeanor -> only wanting compliments on intelligence, achievements, traits like dedication and discipline -when confronted with problem by friend tendency to give practical solutions rather than empathy and compassion -being attracted to weak, feminine men and more or less accidentally taking on the leader role

TL;DR: share your thoughts on mommy issues, what they are, how to deal with them.
