No nail polish for me. I use argan oil on them and buff them so they shine. I keep them short and oval shaped. Not nails, but same area, I'm now using my face potions on the top of my hands so they'll age as nice as my face (hopefully) will... :P

I love nails! My favorite way to do them right now is Gelish gel polish. Regular nail polish can chip within ~2 days for me and it's not worth it when I consider the initial dry time. Gelish is just a brand of gel nail polish (you can use any, but I've found this one can last a very long time) lasts about 2 weeks with minor chips.

I do really like the look of acrylic nails because my nails are thin and my nail beds are short but I hate how they damage my nails. I also don't like how the tips are somewhat dull (although better nail salons will thin out the tips without weakening the nail) so I can't really scratch satisfyingly.

So gel manicures are a good compromise, although it's not a perfect solution. I will say that after you take one manicure off and put the next one on, it doesn't last as long as the first one because your nails are thinner.

My boyfriend got me a gel light and it's certainly a worthwhile purchase! It's nice to be able to do a manicure at home.

Some general tips: put your nails under the light twice after each coat, this will strengthen the polish more. And do 2 coats of topcoat, it strengthens the polish as well.

My nails are brittle and thin. Between working on a computer, cooking and cleaning, I get with acrylic with gel polish. Lasts 2 weeks. Worth the money for me.

I stopped doing my nails for anything except special occasions a few years ago. I don't think my husband really gives a shit. No one commented that my nails weren't painted at my wedding (they were nicely buffed to be shiny).

Painting nails is something I'm pretty sure women do for other women, not for their man. The same goes for very over-the-top eye makeup on most women- when I talk to men they find it weird and less attractive than more subtle eye makeup. It's easy to get distracted by doing "feminine things" that don't really add to your SMV or RMV while ignoring the things that count. Whether or not my outfit shows off my feminine figure is far more important to my man than whether my nails are painted.

I do my nails on a weekly basis. I work with cash, so it's necessary to change my polish on a weekly basis. I keep mine trimmed down and I change the paint every couple of days.

I used to get pink and whites, with a uv gel coating. It would last until it grew out, sometimes three or four weeks. I got tired of the neutral and switched to shellac. My boyfriend likes the bright colors (he's slightly colorblind so subtlety is lost on him), and I like being able to choose something new every couple of weeks. It rarely chips or scratches, but I do need a fill after two weeks. It's not too expensive, roughly $25-$30 every two weeks, and totally worth it.

I really like the biotin gummy vitamins for strong nails I've been eating them for a couple months and would reccomend.

OPI has a gel nail kit that I use and it seems to last the longest of all the ones I've tried.

Before I had kids I would just get a regular manicure almost every week; you should be able to find a good place at a decent price near you (and also ask around, a lot of people will do it from their homes - I went to a lovely lady in my neighborhood and she would only charge $15 every time since I went every week).

I have hard gel nails that I get redone every 3 weeks. My gal is very reasonable, so I pay $35-40 each time which includes a tip. Most run about $45 from what I've heard. In any case, I used to be a horrible nail biter, plus my nails would break easily. I finally started doing these about 4.5 yrs ago.

Hard gels allow me to do my rough activities (like boxing and jiu jitsu or home repairs like changing a garbage disposal) without worry of chipping generally. Sometimes they'll break, but it's very rare. I also love the glitters and designs I can use with them.
