As long as I have been on my quest for femininty I have seen tips about speaking in a feminine manner. I have a loud voice, I sound more nasally than I care to and sarcastic as well. I was never sure how I could pull off a soft feminine voice when I'm looking after two rambunctious boys and working with the elderly who are typically hard of hearing.

I found the TV Show Mad Men on Netflix the last few weeks and besides being obsessed with it, I found my "feminine voice" role model: Joan Holloway-Harris! She has a soft voice yet still commands a room, and even when she raises her voice she is still some how soft.

I've been playing attention to how she talks and emulating it in my own voice. I find it makes me feel calmer, my house calmer and I have found before that talking quietly or even whispering to a child makes him pay closer attention to you (although the instinct to raise your voice to be heard is great!)

This "feminine voice" is a new skill and it is still a work in progress and I still do forget often to practice it but I'm glad to have a role model, that always makes things easier. Does anyone else have a role model for seemingly random skills or attributes?
