Deep in the Way Long Ago, before there was an internet, "red pill theory", existed but it wasn't called red pill. Guys compared notes with other guys about "what worked" with women.

These were back-channel discussions, because, officially, we were taught to be "good men" which meant treating women chivalrously, being a good husband and provider and saying "Yes, Dear" a lot. Simultaneously, a bunch of us noticed that drug dealers, outlaw bikers and escaped mental patients - guys we were specifically told not to be like - were drowning in puss. So there's a point at which you think, "This is bullshit," and take things Back To The Lab to run some diagnostics as to why Milo the Unemployed Loser Alcoholic Poet gets laid left and right and you, a certified Good Guy^TM does not.

When and how did it become a "movement"/clear theory?

I don't think it's a "movement" so much as it's a toolkit or praxeology (which is why men say to each other, about women, "Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do.")

Once the internet sprang into existence, all of this went online and got written down electronically so that other guys could read from the wisdom of the Masters from Long Ago. Guy who suspected there was a "second set of books" found out they were right, and at the same time, the Power That Be tried to stamp it out - which is why the men's forum is quarantined. Not because we hate women, etc., but because we insist on thinking for ourselves. The PTB can't have that because society depends on solid beta males who do what they are told, take what they are given, and are just smart enough to run the machines without asking too many questions. In exchange for that maybe he gets a pity fuck once a month and has a better than average chance that his kids are in fact his genetic legacy. Or maybe not.

Who established it?

If you are talking about here on reddit, a user named pk atheist did, and he turned it over to RPS. But there were other blogs (back when blogs were a thing) such as Heartiste, Dalrock, and Rollo (who came out of the SoSuave forums), and even Tucker Max who was less RP than his actions were - he's a classic bad boy who got laid a lot but there were lessons in his stories.

TRP fills a gap for younger men because we're still taught one thing, when reality is another thing, and an increasing number of guys grow up without dads. My CorporateLand^TM series started out as me answering questions on AskTRP (RIP) about how to interview for a job, how to negotiate salary, etc. Things that guys in past years would have learned from a father or an uncle etc.

Bear in mind that a lot of guys just want a girlfriend who is nice to them, for companionship and occasional sex. Most guys find TRP (or did pre-quarantine) because their gf dumped them out of nowhere and they want to understand why. But we can't have guys waking up, thus we're quarantined - they used to put a "positive alternative for masculinity" or whatever they called it link on our page, but it turned out that those guys were pedos or a bit rapey or smth, so it's gone now. Some alternative.

Anyway, there's more to it than that, but I will leave off here.

It began with the 1990s counter culture to feminist movements, specifically the pick up artist communities of the that time. Many hopeless male feminists would eventually gather on the internet after searching "how I get girl".

Eventually these communities started to figure out that feminism and Disney had lied to them, what they had been force fed about relationships and the nature of men and women did not match with what they were seeing for successful dating and relationships nor did it match with the recent increase of research into evolutionary psychology. Accepting the reality of human relationships instead of what common culture had defined it as became known as the red pill.

Rollo tomassi eventually put all the ideas together with his book The Rational Male. There were many other contributiors to RP theory but most of the early works of the early 2000s have vanished.

Sometime later the subreddits were formed, and began to gain popularity. The powers that be began to label it as hate speech and most the original websites and communities were canceled from exsistance. I really thought all the knowledge from them had been lost forever.

The recent resurgence of red pill theory has come about after the censorship was dropped a few years ago. Unfortunately most current red pill content is so far from the original message it's unrecognizable. Shock and awe for clicks using one liners from 20 years ago. I think of it as 2nd wave RP.

Full text: I'm very curious to learn about the origins of RP and RPW theory. When and how did it become a "movement"/clear theory? Who established it? I understand that it's based on objective truths that you could say are timeless, but that's not really the answer I'm after. I've looked through the wiki and there doesn't seem to be any info on where this all came from.

Do any of you out there know? Or can point me to resources that go onto it?

The current RP theory iteration we see today arguably traces back to Rollo Tomassi, the Rational Male forum and his books.

He has an active YouTube channel, and one thing you notice is his opinions have far more historical depth and context to them than is common. This depth is one of the hallmarks of a thought-leader within a space.

It's a fair critique to say identifying a singular person is an arbitrary choice, since patriarchal ideas have been around in writing for millennia (e.g. The Bible). But I think Rollo is probably the best fitting answer for what you're asking.
