Background I've been with him for 7 months. He has his own house and I live with my parents. We get on well but have our upsets and down days. He's talked to his parents about our problems mostly to try and get support from them. However, this has caused his mother to flip-flop her opinion of me between thinking I'm perfect for him and thinking I'm only with him to try and get pregnant and steal his money. First of all, she's a naturally very negative, pessimistic person. His father on the other hand is very positive and thinks I'm brilliant for him.

I'm a stem student at the moment with a potential to get a decent paying job to sustain myself and a family. I'm not currently earning but have savings. I try my best to make up for lack of income by being thoughtful and doing the little things for him. I sleep over at his house 6 nights of the week and never in his house by myself. I keep any stuff I have/need in the spare room. I keep tidy and not to make a mess nor mix my belongings with his because it's his house and space. l've made him food. I've repaired his trousers and coat. I've cleaned dishes and put them away. If I've noticed that he needs something I'll buy it while I'm getting my own things. I try to offer to pay for dinner or lunch sometimes but I don't have much money. I try not to go into wife territory as it's only been 7 months and I don't want to completely give myself over like cleaning the house and doing his laundry. I don't have the opportunity to do so as I'm never alone in his house and quite frankly I feel it's a bit rude and an insult to his independence. He's demonstrated commitment and we talk about marriage, kids, the future all the time. I'll probably move in after uni when we'll have been together for two years. His mother has demonstrated concern that I'm not pulling my weight such as cleaning the house, dishes, and his laundry. She disregards the things that I have done for him. I think this is too much. Is this too much? Am I not doing enough? Have I only covered the basics of being a nice person? Sometimes I feel like I've gone above and beyond and there have been times that I haven't felt the things I've done are appreciated.

The main question is: Bf is out on Saturday for a few hours and I'll be at his house. He's said his mum wants to come over to his so that we can 'clean' together while he's out. I really don't know if I should avoid or agree. I know exactly how to clean and maintain a house so I suspect it will be about something else. The bf is afraid of this suggestion. I've met the parents about 5 times now but never alone with the mother. I'm scared. She's nice to me but I feel she hasn't totally warmed up to me as I've heard the things she's said behind my back. I really want to get on with her and show I'm not after his money or house.

Should I put on my big girl pants and roll with the punches and try and get to know her better even though she's said some horrible things about me? Do you think she's asking too much of me at this stage?

Thanks for help
