So I asked a similar question on r/relationships but I feel like the advice I got doesn't match my world view. First of all let me say I'm a conservative women in that I believe relationships can almost always be salvaged. My own parents have been happily (and sometimes unhappily) married for 26 years, but the point is they got through it...thick and thin.

I don't believe in throwing away long term relationships ( but being 22 I have no problem with hookups either). But with my ex (he's 28) it gets super messy.

He's very typically male like he doesn't know when he hurts my feelings or how little things annoy me and I'm extremely, irrationally angry with him sometimes. He's also a big suck, quick to apologize and make up whereas I do my best to hold on to anger so I don't seem like a pushover.

We've had a unconventional relationship to say the least and it's been on and off for about a year. Im always the one calling off the relationship because I feel like he's not 100% invested. The point is he refuses to let me go, going to great lengths to stay in contact and getting passed all my blocks. He's even go so far as to say that he will never let me go.

I love him dearly and I don't want to move on but I'm not sure if we will ever be on the same page in terms of commitment. Should I try to work it out, as he so desperately wants, or cut him off completely (in this case get a restraining order)?
